From the Courier-Journal

quote:

If Sheldon Rankins’ name is announced as expected during Thursday night’s opening round of the NFL draft, the University of Louisville defensive lineman won’t be in the green room in Chicago with cameras surrounding him, and he won’t walk across the stage to shake hands with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell.

quote:

The projected first-round pick instead plans to watch on television at a quiet gathering at his family’s home in Covington, Ga., spending one of the NFL’s glitziest nights with only a small group of close relatives and friends.

quote:

“For Sheldon, it’s not about that flash across the stage or the TV or whatever,” his mother Cheryl Rankins said. “It’s just about playing football. All that limelight, all that being in the news, all that is well and good, but that’s not what makes him who he is. He’s truly a humble kid who has wanted to play football and had the goal of playing in the NFL since he was in middle school.”

quote:

Rankins declined an invitation to be among the 25 prospects to attend the draft at Roosevelt University's Auditorium Theatre, and he declined all media requests to be on-site at his family’s party, where chicken wings and pizza will make up the menu.

This kid has the talent and dedication that the Saints need. Anyone, on this board lamenting the Saints not taking a weed head OL player or a player falling out of a window can GTFO.

Maybe you should wait a year or two before either of these guys actually play a down in the NFL before telling people to GTFOH.

Character guys don't win football games, good football players do.

Similar talent level, I am taking high character. His college stats speak volumes. I am glad you took my comment, personally. However, I was addressing the general negative opinion, naysayers.

From what I have read about him he also is a student of the game. Watches a lot of film on himself to improve and other teams to find things he can exploit

I hope he works out. I love how people freak out before the kid plays a snap.
