I definitely would want to keep him as long as he can find a solid DC

Honestly, I've written off the Saints ever having a decent defense.

Hell, even during the super bowl year, our defense wasn't stout, but we were ranked 2nd in turnovers created.

If we are gonna shite the bed every week defensively and be ranked dead last, we just as well do it with players we don't have to pay ridiculous money to. Spend that money on the offense.

We had a top 4 defense two years ago.

Payton's scheme used to be innovative but everyone has caught on and that's why for long stretches we struggle.

it's actually the talent that has caused the drop off, not the scheme. Offensive line and WRs.

of course your statement is coming from a guy that thinks Colston is still good, so that would explain your train of thought.

You can't discount teams over coming new def and off schemes
The NFL finally caught up to coaches like Paul Brown, Buddy Ryan and Walsh.

That team was not within 2 TDs of 2011 squad.

I think that depends on which team considers it a road game

you can always count on the offense to put up big numbers and lead the league in some offensive categories with him.

but you can also count on a new defensive coordinator every 2-3 seasons seems like.

we have to get better at drafting though. Maybe last year's class will turn out to be a good one but it is still too early to tell.

if he does stay he really needs to make some changes on his defensive staff though. But I think when you see how he holds on to veteran players as long as possible (Colston,Evans, Will Smith, Vilma, etc)... it just makes me think he won't make any changes to his buddies on the staff.

I think it speaks volumes what happened this offseason. They met up and evaluated themselves as a staff and decided to shake up the roster and flipped what... almost half of it? Some of it was cap related I'm sure but those changes haven't done much good so far. We are out another defensive coordinator and the same good ole boys still have jobs as assistants.

And that shite is getting really old.

He's a top 5 offensive coordinator but not a head coach. A head coach that was a top 5 would not let their defense suck like this year after year.

and be so terrible at time management, reviews, and timeouts
