I felt my first brush of panic with this whole situation today.

What's to stop Jerry Jones from calling Brees with an absolute Godfather offer right now? I'm talking insane, bat-shite 7 years, 150 million type Godfather offer.

I know that this is completely unrealistic and there's no reason to worry, but shite, this is our franchise on the line. To quote Rod Tidwell's wife from Jerry Maguire, "It don't work without him!"

The fact that Brees isn't a free agent and will be tagged before becoming one?

I found myself scrolling through every post on this thread looking for every Spiderman meme. Two points on this.

1. I have no idea what the frick "meme" means, but I love them

2. I didn't read anything any of you wrote unless it had a "meme" on it, especially Spiderman

I'm guessing the guy you responded to doesn't know how this all works.

You people are so naive. The players don't care about you.

I agree and he's not asking for $5 mil over what anyone else has gotten.

He's asking for the Peyton Manning deal according to piece out now on ESPN.

They have Brees wanting $23 mil front loaded for the first 3 years of the deal with an average of $18 or $19 mil per for the lifetime of the deal. That's basically Manning's deal with a little change thrown in to make him the highest paid.

ESPN says the Saints have offered Brady's deal which is $18 mil per. I can see where Brees wants the Manning deal and should get it.
