They can be justified. But it just goes back to the "oh drew's swell person and he would never hold out or take too much money or this or that and he wouldn't let nicks walk out the door..." frick shite holmes, that cracka wants to get paid.

No it's not. If the Saints cave and resign Brees this will all be forgotten. If the Saints don't cave it won't be a PR blunder it will be a Football Operations blunder.

At this rate he'll have 5 more kids by the end of the contract. He's got a family to feed.

That's the part I definitely know is being ignored by some fans....I mean Brees didn't hire Condon for nothing. He wants max money, and I am not sure he gives a crap about any of the other variables at this point.

We can argue on whether he deserves it or earned it all day long, but the problem is he is likely demanding a contract so large that it could be difficult to continue to compete as a team at this level. Big contracts, even ones well deserved, can handicap a franchise in the salary cap era.

This is what's confusing and "seems" out of character for ole Drew Face.

Why does he need a huge contract? Not saying he doesn't deserve it but he just doesn't seem like the kinda guy that wastes money on cars/jewelry, numerous mansions, guns, etc.

If you were a millionaire - what's the difference in 20 million and 25 million? 5 million obviously, but to a guy like Drew - it just doesn't seem to be that big of a deal since he's not caught up with glamour and shiny things.

The only thing I can think of is he's going for some record on being paid to make a statement. Not actually for the money but just because he can...

Unless Drew wants to be knocked on his arse all of the time, he needs to leave some room for Nicks.

I'm sure this is a major factor. Elite pro athletes become elite because they have the rare combination of skill, physical gifts, and competitive drive. I doubt he's thinking "I need $100 million for A, B and C" He's probably thinking, show how much you value me and pay me more than anyone else.

Drew wants to get paid the most only to help the saints cause it'll set the bar that much higher for guys like aaron rodgers and eli and stafford's of the world in renegotiating their contracts.

Drew way out played his initial 60 mil contract and could of easily asked for a new contract after he won the super bowl. But he didn't and let the team address other key free agents these past few years.

He has done his part and now it's time to pay the man what he wants and deserves.

Oh, I don't disagree with that at all. And, more importantly, he's deserved it.

However, it comes at a cost - and that contract (if it gets done) probably should NOT be celebrated as much as it will down here in NOLA. Why? Because it could very well destroy the team, especially the O line and make them take steps backwards over the next few years.

This is not good because Schefter is actually one of those reporters I say " O shite dat gotta be true if he said it" he and Jay Glazer.

LINK

This could have alot to do with the contract talks. Nobody knows what the cap ceiling is going to be yet. With such a large contract it is kind of hard to determine a number when you don't know how it could impact the rest of the team.

Hope I got the link correct, first time doing that.

Ok, I'll bite...
#1) Already said my piece on ole Mole Face and his compensation.
#2) Washington? Redskins, I'm guessing? Here's one for you - the Skins will pick up Peyton Manning
#3) Ryan Tannehill - overrated. Another fat Matt Ryan basically.

Chad you called Drew a prick and a cracka in this thread and alluded to him not really being a nice guy.

For what its worth, contracts of this size are more an exercise of dick measuring than anything else.
