the Saints haven't drafted a good LB since Mark Fields back in 1995.

They should put more of a priority in drafting LBs higher since they have a tough time finding them in the mid to later rounds. Since Mark Fields they have drafted 1 LB in the first 2 rounds.

That's 1 LB in 20 years drafted in the 2nd round.

Off the field issue

Has to be this. They thought enough of him to put him on IR-DTR as opposed to just IR. Maybe it's a move to put him on the PS, but if they wanted to keep him around they would have just IR'd him. I was pretty optimistic about this guy too, sucks that it didn't work out.

But yeah, we definitely can't draft/develop LBs for shite. At what point does the LB coach (Vitt) get blame for this? Our best LBs in the Payton era (Fujita, VIlma, Lofton) were brought in during Free Agency.

That is a position of great need.... Was he really that bad in camp? Supposedly he says he is healthy and is willing to play safety (also a need with Byrd gone- and losing a step wouldnt kill him as bad there)

Yeah, not looking good outside of Cooks. SJB is already 24, and obviously does not know how to play the position, Rooks is already written off, and Powell is a project too. Fott was my only hope after Cooks.

Has Byrd been sent to the IR? I can't find it anywhere on the transaction wires?

Who did they sign in his place? If no one and you have this recent cut, I'd think it wouldn't be a bad idea to sign Bailey to play backup Nickel/Safety and Incognito as a Guard on the cheap if he's healthy.

I really hate being left in the dark when it comes to player status.

I mean, they never even told us why Jenkins was a healthy scratch.

They didn't replace Byrd, per Payton's press conference announcing the injury. he said they would dress 52 with 7 inactives instead of 53.

And to waste the designated return IR spot. Haven't heard what he did. I'm sure it'll come out eventually

Had a horrible game vs cleveland and sat him according to TP. Came back a lot more motivated yesterday and it showed on the field

They are probably trying to get him onto the PS and then sign a DB or OLineman.

Nope.

He hurt his leg week 2 I think and was ready in the IR-designated to return. So he wasn't counting against the 53 man roster. Cutting him doesn't open up a spot because he already wasn't on the 53man roster.

What. The. frick.
