The Saints need to patch things up with Cooks and keep him unless they get an "offer they can't refuse". In today's NFL, players get their feathers ruffled all the time. I know they got burnt by some locker room cancer guys recently but I really don't think Cooks is like that. Smooth things over and get him back on board for another big year.

i don't know much about him, but is he bad against the run?

but you still expect a pass rush specialist to have a career high better than 6.5 sacks

i think his physical limitations probably affect this

he's not tall and i don't think he's an elite burst/speed guy, so he likely gets pressure from effort an leverage. that's going to get you in the backfield but won't get you many clean looks at the QB. those angular, fast-twitch guys who are 6-4+ with long arms can get past the OTs and get shots on the QBs much more often

Starting to get concerned that Saints are not going to get what they want for Cooks. If we do not get at least a mid-first, we are getting screwed royally.

yeah if we keep 11 and get graham, our biggest issue is somewhat resolved. we finally have an edge pass rusher to pair with cam. if we assume even a moderate development of rankins, that's a scary front 4 (and graham may get those sacks if we have interior pressure. that may also be why he's not turning pressure into sacks)

we could easily justify foster or a DB at 11. hell what if allen fell? graham/rankins/allen/cam could be legit as hell

no

getting a mid-1st for a WR like cooks is screwing the other team royally. that's apex value

like 14 variety or 2nd round variety??

this might sound out there but I don't think the Eagles are gonna trade their 1st rd pick this yr with the draft being in Philly for the first time

He also has a very reasonable salary at 6.5 mil a year that could turn into a steal if he gets to 9-10 sacks a year

It also lets the saints take their time in FA and not have to feel they have to fill a DE need.

yeah i have turned around if this deal is on the table (which i don't think it even is )

a 2nd rounder + graham would be an absolute steal for cooks

a 3rd rounder + graham would still be a winning deal for the saints, i believe

If Graham is in fact on the table and the eagles don't want to give up their first,I would be very happy with a second this year and next+BG

Simple solution-- Eagles #14 for Cooks or no deal.

Pass. Graham is already 29 years old and gets pressures only because Cox is drawing double teams. He does not get sacks. He is under contract for 2 more years. I would rather have Cooks at 23 under contract for 2 more years and decide what to do from there.

Yeah I've been reading some other sites on him because I wasn't that familiar.

PFF had him rated super high, but he gets a lot of hurries and not a lot of sacks. It seems like the consensus is that he benefits greatly from Fletcher Cox getting doubled.

Saints really need to be patient with this. They hold all the cards. Let someone strike out in the FA WR market and they'll overspend for cooks.

Exactly. With Marshall already off the board, I can see the Titans or Eagles missing out on Alshon and Desean Jackson

Exactly dude 29 years old & aint really a good pass rusher. Get nothing less than a 12-19th round pick & another 3rd-4th roundish pick.

I rather go young in this loaded defensive draft than some unproven almost 30 year old barely know guy.

The teams in on the Cooks sweepstakes, as reported by many, are the Eagles, Titans and Patriots. The Saints have all but begged for those teams to up their offers for Cooks, and appear very motivated to move him. In return, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the Saints want picks or a pass rusher.

Begged?? It's called negotiating, we aint tryna get Vlade Divac'd!

How would you not read that as Cooks isn't worth a mid-first?

San Fran is signing Garcon. In the first year he will get 16 million dollars. Not sure how the rest of that is structured.

While it takes a FA WR off the board, that might scare the shite out of teams as to how much Cooks will cost on a long term deal.
