I'm thinking of starting my own La'el Collins thread. What would you suggest? I'd like to be original and witty with a new insight. Should I get a think tank to vet some ideas or do you think I should go for it and speak from the heart?

TIA

This, but his agent should have kept his month shut and just let it happen

I think his agent announcing that he wouldn't sign if picked after day 2 was meant to force a team to pick him, rather than wait till after when he was an UDFA. As said earlier in this thread, the backfire could've been that this strategy undermined the importance of the draft, which lead to the NFL advising teams not to draft him as a sort of FU and to protect the draft's value (the implication being that a team who picks him would be penalized in some way).

or you could start a thread about what numbers the UDFA will wear, some people prefer that topic.

This is just because he is from LSU get over it he is going to be a bust watch peat will be a pro bowler and Collins will do something or associated with someone to get in trouble. Stop already. Just because he is from LSU doesnt make him the greatest player ever. If that's the case jarmarcus russel would be in the hall fame already.

Is there more to this than just a TD poster rant? As in a fact or two to support. Wondering did I miss a chance to slam roger?

But we know the Saints had interest in him, so there's a reason they didn't spend a pick. It's not as simple as just throwing a pick at him

Of course there is, that doesn't mean it's a smart decision.

last NFL hall of famer from LSU was Keven Mawae center of Tennessee Titans. If we drafted all LSU player ever year or picked up every LSU player we would be dead last every year and would always have the first pick. Yes there is some good players but Collins has to have some character flaws to have every NFL team to stay away from him. Guilty or not guilty his character must have gave teams doubt.

I'll contribute $100 of his signing bonus to the team that's going to sign him (its not going to be the Saints), if these threads will stop.

I said "I think" and "could've been," which should have indicated that I was speculating. Was that unclear?

The facts that Sean said he thought La'el would be drafted by the end of day 2 and there was no new information from the time he said that through the following 224 picks suggests that there "could've" been some sort of black balling going on. I'm not saying that in a judgemental tone, but teams sure haven't been scared of associating with La'el since the draft ended although no one would touch him during.

No, what you mean is that the Saints should have drafted him with one of their 3rd Round picks. Then, he would be cleared and we'd essentially have 3 First Round picks.

But, that is hindsight. That is where the play should have happened, though.

Really need to move on from this. The saints picks are in and I think we have had one of our better drafts. The team doesn't need the distraction that goes along with this. This investigation may go on for a while and sometimes where there is smoke there is fire.

No one drafted Collins because he would've just refused to sign and entered next years draft. He can't do that now because he never got drafted.

Can't wait for the 456 "OH NOEZ" threads that get started after he signs with someone else.

I would bet a lot of money that teams were told not to draft him. All 32 teams were together for the draft so I'm sure they weren't dumb enough to put it in an email.
