Saints Scouting Left Tackles for 2010 Draft

(file under news you don't find anywhere else LOL)
The Arkansas State/Iowa game doesn't offer much excitement on paper. However, scouts from the Jacksonville Jaguars and New Orleans Saints will be on hand to observe junior left tackle Bryan Bulaga. Returning from a thyroid issue, Bulaga has been cleared to play. When he's healthy, he's one of the best players in college football.

Bryan Bulaga*, Iowa
Height: 6-6. Weight: 305.
Projected 40 Time: 4.92.
Projected Round (2010): Top 15 Pick.
2/9/09: A very athletic left tackle from a program known for producing stud offensive linemen, Bryan Bulaga was an All-Big Ten second-teamer as a sophomore. Bulaga started as a true freshman.
----------------
natural bender who fires out of his stance low and does a great job gaining initial leverage on his opponents. Showcases good hand placement at the point of attack and consistently stays on his man through the play. Is a physical run blocker who pumps his legs through contact and possesses the body control to stay on blocks and angle defenders away from the ball. Looks natural in the open field and showcases impressive athleticism when asked to reach the second level. Displays the coordination to chip at the line and consistently hits a moving target in space.
Is very patient in pass protection and looks comfortable extending his arms into blocks and consistently getting his hands inside the frames of defenders. Does a nice job locking out at the point of attack while keeping his base down through the play. Displays great awareness off the snap and is very smooth and compact with his footwork. Exhibits a quick initial kick-step and has the range to consistently reach the corner. Gets a bit overextend with his footwork on his punch, however, he possesses the athleticism to make up for a false step and quickly redirect himself back into the rush lane.

I wouldn't argue this pick. Our pass protection isn't great. Breesus just has great awareness and is able to rid the ball quick. This is why he hardly gets sacked and it makes the line look good.

welcome aboard Blitzed. What's your Saints history?

I must confess that I had never even heard of this kid before your post. But by the sounds of it he would be a nice pick. Considering our injury woes already this year at OT, this isn't surprising. But I must say that I am really hopeful that we draft Norwood (LB) from South Carolina. The dude is a beast.
But I'm not so sure that either one will be left when we pick at #32.

Last pick of the first round would be sweet.

Well blues, it's a long story. You may have formally known me as tigertool. It was my best friends account which he hardly used. So I devoted my time to trying to make every board think he was gay. But he's getting back on and I fell in love with saints talk. So I had to create me an account and now I can post useful information.

Bryan Bulaga would be a WHALE of a pick!

I think OT is a true need. LB/DL to follow. Greg Williams is getting the best out of Shanle right now, but a young stud LB is always needed.

No! Everyone thought tool was guy because I said he was gay. I wasn't trying to hide it. BTW I've never seen you on this board before? You jump on the bandwagon hoss?

Haha he had to create a new one as well. Said the damage was to great. I think he's wanting to jump on the bandwagon which is why he wants to get back on.

LB, OT in the first round this year.

How about Selvish Capers, the NOLA native for WVa?
I like his athleticism.

I say we take a top notch LB or DE/DT. We can pick up a good OL player in the 2nd round. I think are front D line is good but i know Grant and Clancy are in there 30's and it would be good to have some depth there incase of injury. LB would be my 1st look. need somone that can help Vilma out a lil more

He's gone by the 8th pick. Same type talent as Joe Thomas (wisc.) and Jake Long (mich.)
Cant miss pick.
