They had an unstable cap coming off the superbowl.

They didn't trade him for cap relief :lol;

They traded him before he had even less value.

The Rams aren't deluding themselves into thinking they're title contenders and are trying to accumulate a lot of picks to rebuild their team....unlike some other teams.

With the unexpected loss of Latt and Ram's contracts, I don't see how we can avoid it.

This is bad

Jalen Ramsey is a much better CB than Latt is, with the same injury concerns. Why would Latt go for more?

Missing on Penning is going to hurt way way more than Davenport ever did. Maybe the biggest miss in Saints history

At this point, I’m really ok with whatever position they add in the draft. The roster needs talent, period. I’d probably melt over LB or CB because there’s not really a standout there.

But I’d be ok with any of:

Safety
WR
OL (Guard or Tackle)
Edge

Yep. I could see a scenario where Keon Coleman might be hard to pass up. Is WR an immediate need? No. But at this point just keep adding young talent at key positions.

Coleman, Odunze would love those. Would love Verse, Turner or Latu.

I’m actually not that sold on the other OT prospects outside of Alt and Fashanu so I’d rather them go guard or tackle in the 2nd round

Penix if he’s there, but he probably won’t be.

Guys, they’re not gonna go QB. Let’s just face facts. It’s like saying we should trade back.

We just don’t operate that way and won’t until Loomis is gone

Broncos pick 12. That is the floor for Penix. No chance he slips past payton.

Brock Bowers! Then OLine in the 2nd. Should have a couple of 4ths in comp picks.

We can’t trade him until after June 1 because we would need to spread the cap hit over 2 seasons.

I went back and read Nick’s article explaining it. Basically, it’s still expensive but less so than had they just done a basic restructure. They might not get what they want but I bet they move Lattimore before the draft, especially after Jeff Duncan’s article about how the FO feels about Lattimore missing so many games.

Now couple that with the locker room potentially turning on DA…they’re gonna want to limit any kind of animosity towards DA, which means guys like Latt, Jameis and MT are probably gone

We can't move him until June 2 because of the dead cap hit on 2024

I mean Underhill’s article literally says they can.

quote:

Previously, before this move, Lattimore counted as $25 million against the cap. This move makes it easier to carry him on the roster until June 2, at which point he could be traded and the team could split the charge over two seasons. The dead-money hit would be the low teens in 2024 and about $20 million in 2025. Those numbers are very manageable.

It also makes it slightly less expensive to just make an outright trade before June 2 than it would have if the team used a signing bonus as part of this deal.

They’d still tank a serious dead cap hit but it sounds like, from what Nick is implying in his articles and in his podcasts, along with Duncan’s recent article, there’s some perhaps irreversible damage to the Lattimore/Saints relationship that could end in a trade. Personally, I’d rather keep Lattimore period but it does sound like it’s certainly possible he’s moved.

Or at least, if you do trade him, wait until the 2024 trade deadline to maximize value and trade him to a desperate contender for a 2nd or 3rd for the 2024 draft.
