I'd be down for taking a chance on him. He won't be expensive due to his injury history and he had played at a very high level. I wonder who will be playing MLB for Atlanta this year. Curious because he'll be our MLB in 5 years.

If we get him cheap I have no problem with it. I know the FO liked him when he came out

His injuries scare me, but he would be our vocal leader our D desperately needs

If we sign him maybe we can convince Lofton to stay, and take a paycut.

We are trying to trade Lofton, likely to make room for someone like Spoon. It's not just about about money.

And Atlanta fans were right, Lofton sucks in coverage. Spoon used to be good there. Guess it depends on if they feel he can come back.

Why do we keep trying to pick up Atlanta's trash? We already have Lofton who is probably the worst middle linebacker in the league. Now we want a guy who has been robbed of his talent due to all of his injuries? Just draft some new blood in. We do terrible with picking up free agent linebackers.

vet. minimum? Sure.

I mean at 26, if he could get past his injuries he could be a difference-maker.

when healthy he's solid. His injury history scares me though.

I'd comment on how well he plays, but I haven't seen him play in years.
He could be good for some team, but that team needs to have a really good backup for if/when he gets injured.

Don't think he's going for the vet minimum dude.

His signing would I guess be contingent on having a taker for Lofton. So does that mean something with Lofton is imminent??

Well the options with Lofton are trade or cut him to save $4.25 mil or restructure his bonus to save $3 mil (not sure why some of these "experts" think he only has two years left and will save only $2.25; 4.5 ÷ 3 = 1.5).

I don't see him taking a pay cut and I think we want to move on regardless (I know I do) so if we can't trade him I think we cut him.

one thing Spoon can do IMO is pass coverage. Came across this mind blowing stat...

Ranking defenses by how they defended different types of receivers...

Saints not only dead last in covering RBs but last by a long ways. Almost 53 yds receiving a game by RBs. Next worse was ATL at 49yds. NFL avg 39.8.

Either they really think he is the missing part sort of player to invest in or he might go for a one year sort of prove-it deal since he has been so dinged up. Conceivable cuz with a solid injury free year he could multiply his contract numbers significantly.

A lotta folks here loved him in that draft

I am a little concerned that the guy who will be our lead tackler is so prone to injury.

It sounds like the Champ Bailey experiment only at linebacker!
