obviously it's a longshot but I'd love us to sign Sam as the meltdown would be historic
Hes just so overrated its ridiculous, only reason anybody knows his name is because of him coming out of the closet pre-draft.

Henery is available he was cut by Philly

Also, the Saints are at 53. So when the Saints do sign a kicker, they have to cut somebody.
Lorig and/or Fortt will probably head to IR.

My bet is on Lorig because there's no reason to keep 3 TEs and 2 FBs(especially when 2 of the TEs can also play FB).
We will resign one of our kickers then.

Johnson has come on pretty strong.
Is Lorig that much better than him?

No field goals.
All touchdowns with two point conversions.

Sean thinks so, That's why we cut Collins to bring him in. He has great hands which is his major upside but hes also like a little bowling ball and would open up gaping holes for our backs.

We didn't cut Collins. He was a FA and was actually told he would be brought back before at the last minute we gave Lorig a call.
Payton gave strong compliments to Johnson so I think he likes him about as much as Lorig.
If Johnson plays well enough it'll be interesting to see what they do with it. It's possible at that point that Lorig comes back and Johnson goes to the PS, that Lorig is never activated, or maybe someone at OLB is under performing and gets sent to the PS instead.

Well the reason we didnt bring him back
The Bucs never gave him the ball but 30 rec for 193 yards for a fullback is pretty good.

Receiving is also Johnson's strength and he has really improved his run blocking(like drastically improved). That's why it'll be interesting to see how it unfolds.

For reference heres Collins stats.....

The catching and rushing isn't why Collins was let go. Each year his run blocking got worse(he was terrible last year) and his pass blocking also tanked last year. I think they liked him as a situational runner and receiver but you have to be able to block as a FB.
Speaking of blocking, Lorig has actually scored in the negatives every year in run blocking on PFF with -1.9, -1.7, -5.1, and -4.1. Not that I think that's definitive and I've seen Lorig make some great blocks to spring backs, but that is a very negative career run blocking score.
Johnson actually went from -3.9 run blocking last preseason to +1.3 this preseason. He has made some really good blocks and has rarely whiffed completely.

The K thing has to be a case of waiting until Tuesday to use the IR Designated to Return on a player.

Johnson may be the guy, I really don't know or really care for that matter.
This is the last Fullback of ours that I actually liked.....

KARNAGE!!!
Yeah I'm not meaning to sound like I'm arguing anything. I'm just trying to present the facts. And one of those facts is that Payton like Lorig and Johnson so who knows.

Its not that I think Lorig is better than Johnson I just know that Payton was sucking him off when we brought him in.
Posted on 8/30/14 at 5:59 pm to Meateye
Definitely, and then he did the same thing to Johnson after the 3rd preseason game.
Posted on 8/30/14 at 8:05 pm to bonethug0108
So did Peyton divide to go for it on every 4th down and go for the 2 pt conversion every time?
Posted on 8/30/14 at 10:26 pm to SirWinston
Good enough reason for me. Ill chip in $20 for his signing bonus
