Saints clear winner on day 1

Everything I've seen says they get an A or A+
Two immediate plug in starters and future pro bowlers
Add that to tons of picks on days 2 and 3 and a top 3 RB you just acquired, and you can't get a much better offseason
Future is bright

Adrian Peterson is not even a top 20 running back anymore.

If healthy he's a top ten back. Splitting the load will greatly benefit him. We've got two top ten backs. It's going to be fun to watch.

Streif will likely still start, at least in the beginning of the season. But a least we have a future RT.

This is just absurd.

I'm ok with OL at that spot, Strief is getting old, Armstead has been hurt, Peat is not a T, the line last year was awful until Evans returned.
Sometimes being able to run the ball and keep your d off the field is as good as anything else.

Ingram was top 4 back last year (yards per carry).

Slight correction on an otherwise great post, Peat can and did play LT.
He cannot play on the right. Can't get the technique switch down.

49ers were the clear winner. But saints did very well

Round 1, Pick 11 (11th overall) Marshon Lattimore, CB, Ohio State: Teams chasing defensive players have to be giddy at the offense-heavy top 10. Without having to move up the board at all, the Saints managed to land the top prospect at a position of extreme need. Lattimore could have landed in the top five (as many predicted he would, with Tennessee) and no one would have batted an eye. He’s a physical cornerback who can live on an island but who also will step up and help against the run. The Saints try to fix their secondary seemingly every season. This might finally get them there.? GRADE: A
Round 1, Pick 32 (No. 32) (From New England) Ryan Ramczyk, OT, Wisconsin: An interesting conclusion to a wild night. This is the pick that the Saints acquired for trading Brandin Cooks to New England, but there weren’t many (any?) folks predicting they’d use it on a tackle. That’s not to say it is a nonsensical selection. Andrus Peat, the Saints’ 2015 first-rounder, has settled in at guard, and veteran Zach Strief turns 34 in September. So, the Saints got a jump on any potential future headaches by bringing in Ramczyk. The knock: It probably does not make New Orleans any better in 2017 unless Strief is headed out the door early. The defense could have used another body here.? GRADE: B

I'm a Ingram troll with the best of them but let's not get stupid.

That's a tough request for many of the posters on this board

I like the draft, especially in combo with the recent deals, and knowing the make-up of the team.
Lattimore is a no-brainer, and as we move past the draft and people learn exactly what we got, they will be happy. I really think someone hit the nail on the head yesterday, when they said he was projected so high above us, nobody looked into him. Everyone was hoping for Tre White, a late 1st rd prospect... well, Lattimore is better.
The Offensive Tackle pick- that one was a little out of left field, but it also makes a lot of sense when you see the big picture.
The Saints last year, the offense didn't help the defense other than scoring. Everything was fast, either 3 and out, or quick score. No methodical, clock-eating drives.
Cooks is great at big plays, but invisible when it's time to move the chains. He didn't catch in traffic. That was Snead, and Thomas emerged too.
So if you want to slow the game down, and rest the defense, what do you do?
You keep the best possession guy (Snead), and the best overall guy (Thomas). You upgrade the line (Ram-guy) to improve the running game and protect your aging QB. And you upgrade your running back rotation. We did.
Peterson in measured doses should be a huge upgrade over Hightower in measured doses. He might still be able to take games over, especially if you keep him fresh by pounding away with Ingram during the season. A rested Peterson in the playoffs would be a scary thing for defenses, when you are just worried about 1 game.

No one has beat the drums for pass rushers like I have.
But there is nothing I can say negative about these picks.
We got two quality starters for years to come and with our draft history this is a huge win for us.

I like the draft, but the 49ers clearly won the day.

I love the pick.

don't necessarily disagree with that take at all. But I feel like we can get a good player on defense at #42.
if go offense again.. no matter who it is.. I'll be disappointed.
The O-line has usually been a strength on this team and adding Ramczyk only makes things better. A loaded offensive line is paramount in the NFL.

I really can't complain too much about the draft, got great value at 11, but we've had terrible luck with db and injuries so I'm trying to hold off on getting too excited, instant starter though otherwise
At 32 we got great value, like really great value. Doesn't help all that much for the "win now" strategy but I don't think there was a guy left to help the D without reaching at that spot, especially with another pick at 42

Disagree, we came in second to the 49'ers who trade raped the bears.

True that. Their message boards must be on fire right now.
