The thing that bothers me is the ding the Saints rep takes being a known, aggressive pursuer of Watson with nothing to show for it. I hope Allen doesn’t destroy the culture Payton spent 16 years building.

Do you know how many players we went after hard with Sean that we missed out on. This is nothing new things happen.

Part of the reason I wanted Watson so bad is that he just signed his deal for 35 a year for 4 years I think. That’s a pretty good value for a franchise qb with their salaries spiraling out of control.

Cleveland just tore it up and broke the bank like he is a free agent which was just stupid.

With a solid roster and all the great QBs being in the afc, desperate times in Cleveland….

They are about to shite with Watson. He won't bring them anymore wins than Baker did. Browns will go back to the cellar dwellers because that contract just killed their franchise. They will be luck to make the playoffs with him.

We don't need any QB for that price tag.

I love seeing this argument being made when comparing against NOLA. My cousin made the same statement yesterday when the news broke.

And they gave him guarantees as if he were a low risk free agent.

Mahomes is worth 5 years of guaranteed money.

There's a reasonable risk that Watson does something else in the near future and finds himself suspended or in jail.

Disagree completely. At least for the short term. That team is going to be competing with Cinci for a bit.

I get it. We got left in the dust and all of a sudden Watson is a bad QB. But saying he is on equal footing to Baker is ridiculous.

Do you know for a fact that they don’t have behavior clauses in his contract that void the guarantees?

I’m referring to the sexual assault allegations. It’s a bad look, one that as a Saints fan I’d rather not exist. But that’s really hypocritical on my part because I wanted Watson to choose the Saints. Having gained nothing now I’m pissed, lol

The mental gymnastics people are doing on this board are pretty funny. Very petty.

Even so, I bet if he has a Joey Theisman/Alex smith type injury he will still get all of that money. That’s a pretty big risk…..

Sometimes the best deal is the one you didn’t make. Huge risk on Cleveland’s behalf. If we didn’t get Watson this was the best scenario. He’s out of the conference and division and playing for a bad franchise.

Roughly about 7-8th best QB in the world year in and year out with upside for moar.

And he is now the 2nd or 3rd highest paid QB w the most money guaranteed of any NFL player in history. If he’s the 7-8th best, Clev grossly overpaid

And that’s not factoring in what they had to give up to get him

I think Cleveland outfoxed themselves on this one.

OK. That's fine. Now go look at a team that traded for a QB and broke the bank on them, what kind of success did they have? Unless you believe Watson is the next Brady, Brees, or Manning. Either way the Browns owner is trash. That's what makes the organization garbage. Same with Jacksonville.

Browns draft a QB that gives them winning seasons after 20 failed years and they replace him. Watson won't do shite with the Browns. It's not a knock against Watson. He chased the money over winning.

I would've been absolutely furious if we gave Watson the deal Cleveland gave him.

I guess no one didn't just watch the rams win superbowl by making bold moves, that what it takes in this Era of football now, take advantage of opportunities, now saints will just watch all of their key players just get old and never win! By time we figure it out on offense our defense will be past their prime, its like watching a dog chase they tail damn, I didn't like how watson finesse them but if you're all in you gotta make the move Cleveland made!!

How so? They guaranteed his entire contract and then gave away a good number of high picks. What happens if he gets a lengthy suspension, gets hurt or just isn’t the same Watson? Now they’re stuck paying him even though he isn’t playing and they lost all of the picks while still needing another qb.

I think NO had something in mind they were comfortable with and said frick it when they started getting all crazy with their demands.

Front Office 101...
If you are going to do a thing, and Cleveland does that thing, don't do that thing.

Saints win.

The contract and the picks given up put them in a high risk high reward situation for 5 years.

Is he's hurt they are screwed.
