If we get Butler it'll be at least a 4 year deal, but likely to be 5 (max bonus spread) or 6.
Let's call it 5 and he gets $10.5 per for a $52.5 mil deal.
Year one for $3 mil.
Year two is $8 mil with a $6 mil roster bonus that converts. That put his cap at $9.5 mil.
Year three is $8 mil, and with the bonus conversion put his cap at $9.5 mil.
This is Loomising. That scenario would work.

There's actually no urgency until draft day (day 1 or 2 depending on the pick being traded).
He'd have to sign the Pat's tender regardless (unless he plans a sitout) so the 21st doesn't move things along.
But what will move things is us using the pick instead of trading it.
And it's actually more beneficial for us to wait until we are on the clock with whatever pick so we can see our options.
I wouldn't be shocked if it's announced at the end of round 1 that we traded the pick to the Pats (or during round 2 if that's the pick).

U really believe that . I do believe the saints def want to get a look at him and he also likes the idea of maybe being our QB of the future but first of all drew Brees isn't going anywhere. Just a way for him to focus on this year and get the saints to do all they can in free agency and the draft.
Chase Daniel gets the 900k but i don't think we are paying him 4 mil but we will see

I'm not saying he is leaving. I'm saying there is potential for him to leave, especially with what he said.
QB is not a spot you want to be left empty handed with.
Also I guess no backup QB comp between Luke and Chase after all.
Makes me wonder about those injury rumors. I think it was said Luke's back is fricked up. IF that is the case I'm surprised it took this long to release him. I guess the release designation will tell us though.

Yeah I guess so well we will see about the 4 mill I'm very interested to see if they pay it and I agree I'm not as worried have chase Daniel as the backup

I wrote on another thread that Daniel is going to get $5 million no matter what.
This is because his $5 million was guaranteed by the Eagles. So according to the deal Daniels 2017 salary breaks down as 900k (Saints) + $4.1 million (Eagles).
That is the key whatever amount the Saints offered Daniel would have only lowered the Eagles' amount. So why stick you current team with the bill to lessen their salary cap.

Same script with how Revis should play out.

I don't think Daniel had an offset clause. Which means he gets what the Eagles owe him and whatever we pay him.
Plus with what you are saying that's not how an offset even works. If he earned his full $4 mil here and had an offset that would all be on our cap and the Eagles would only owe about $1-2 mil (I think they owed $6 mil ish).
But I've heard nothing about an offset.
Also back on McCown he did have back surgery so the question wasn't was he injured. The rumor is his back is still fricked up and that's why we brought Chase in.

Yep that's what I was saying that I really don't think the saints are going to give him 4 mil but bonethug thinks diff

Do you even Loomis, bro?
LOL, exactly. Fans can question his FA moves and drafting skills, but he's a wizard at cap related things.
