When the Saints selected Nebraska cornerback Stanley Jean Baptiste in the second round of the 2014 draft, Payton was really eyeing LSU halfback Jeremy Hill, but the Bengals beat the Saints to the draft punch and selected the hard-charging Tiger back.

Scouts that were with the Saints at that time say that it was Ryan who really wanted the developmental cornerback.

Insight from Detellier

Also a good point that none of "his guys" worked out-

It was Ryan who brought in numerous guys with ties to his former team the Dallas Cowboys -- outside linebacker Victor Butler, defensive end Baraka Atkins, defensive end/tackle Kenyon Coleman and safety Jim Leonhard, who his brother Rex, coached with the Baltimore Ravens and New York Jets.

Bailey, Butler, Atkins, Coleman and Leonhard never played a regular-season down with the Saints.
-----------------

Plenty of whiffs from the front office too. Still, when you bring in your guys ya expect something. Old decrepit Pierson Prioleau at least got some reps for GW

And Payton wanted Browner so they both whiffed. Hill and Ingram would have been one punishing backfield though. Also does this end the narrative of Payton hating LSU?

No. He can say all he wants about he wanted to drafter after the draft is over and no one will be the wiser if it's true or not.

Sean always loves LSU players...after the draft. Narrative still allowed even though we won a SB with Saban's LSU players.

It always seems to be the case where a team picking ahead of the Saints grabs an LSU player. It happened this year in the 7'TH round as well with Vadal and Jalen being picked before we selected Lasco.

Narrative: Saints hate LSU players

Fact: Saints won SB with Henderson and Gay. Both were Saban LSU players.

Conclusion: people are upset or mad that Saints haven't been adding Les Miles LSU players

I then tied it into a former LSU narrative that Les Miles was winning in 05-07 due to Saban recruits.

I tried to go full circle...may have been grasping at straws...oh well.

Still angers me we have Cooks instead of Beckham

I remember I was told Cooks was better a few years ago and I only liked Odell because he went to LSU while this wack 10 midget was supposed to be some gamebreaker
