Wonder if Bracy kept any of his football skills. Dude can definitely fly.

Haven't heard Matt Simms name since he was with the Vols. Didn't know he was still in the league.

Seth Russell is interesting. Wonder if he could be Sean's next project. Has decent size, arm strength, and athleticism.

At least two veterans present for the New Orleans Saints rookie minicamp on a tryout basis are on track to sign a contract.

The Saints are expected on Monday to sign offensive lineman Khalif Barnes and tight end Clay Harbor, according to a source familiar with the situation.

For the 6-foot-6 Barnes, the return marks his fifth time with the Saints since late August 2016. He bounced on and off the active roster until November without appearing in a game, and he returned for the rookie minicamp committed by losing more than 40 pounds.

Barnes, who joined the Saints last summer weighing 358 pounds, said Saturday he is now down to 314 pounds.

Barnes entered the league in in 2005 out of Washington as a second-round pick of the Jacksonville Jaguars. He spent four seasons with the Jaguars (2005-08), before playing seven seasons with the Oakland Raiders (2009-15).

On his 11-year career, the 35-year-old Barnes has appeared in 151 games with 117 starts and can play tackle or guard.

The 6-foot-3, 240-pound Harbor turns 29 in July and entered the league in 2010 out of Missouri State as a fourth-round pick of the Philadelphia Eagles.

Harbor, who enters his eighth professional sesason, has played for the Eagles (2010-12), Jacksonville Jaguars 2013-15), and New England Patriots and Detroit Lions in 2016.

He has appeared in 98 career games with 37 starts, totaling 114 catches for 1,170 yards and eight touchdowns.

The expected signings of Barnes and Harbor will bolster depth on the offensive line and tight end position.

The Saints waived undrafted rookie free agent offensive lineman Collin Buchanan on the first day of rookie camp, and also cut ties last week with tight end Jake Stoneburner.

There was a whole article on espn about it.

Dude got there and it wasn't for him. Had a discussion with Payton and they went separate ways.

Sounds like a smart kid.

don't you love when they post lists like this (not the OP) and they have a bunch of code letters they add to players numbers but never say what any of them mean or represent?

what do the letter designations after players jersey numbers stand for?

39d Calhoun, Taveze - CB
49s Dominguez, Chase - LS
14 Dural, Travin - WR
88 Fulwood, Ahmad - WR
45o Griffin, Garrett - TE
49d Hightower, Forrest - DB
74o Lauderdale, Andrew - T
68d Lawrence, Devaroe - DT
17o Lawrence, Rashad - WR

if its supposed to be offense, defense, and special teams, then the position already tells you that, so no need for the stupid added letters

It's telling you that there are two players with that number (one on offense, one on defnese), rather than stating a WR plays on offense.

After the Buchanan cut...I'm counting 89 players. If we sign those 2 guys on Monday, then we would still have to cut 1 more guy.

Best bets for that cut are:
DE Mitchell Loewen
LB Travis Feeney
CB Anthony Gaitor
CB Forrest Hightower
S Robenson Therezie

Byrd is still being counted by some sites. Not sure if it's the one you're looking at but overthecap has him as one of the 89.

Even weirder I just counted only 85 on the official site taking out the two we cut.

Most of those sites are wrong. I've been updating the thread I made about 2 weeks ago. I count 89 without Byrd.

I use cbssports as a reference for transactions...they're easily the most accurate & up to date. Even more so than the Saints website.

Not sure why Payton keeps wasting time with an over the hill Barnes. Move on from him already.

He probably doesn't make the final 53, but I bet we have him on speed dial like last year if one of our OT's get hurt. He lost 45 pounds...hopefully he's better than he was last year. Tony Hills sucked bad last year(he was decent for us in 2015). He can't be any worse than Hills... at least I hope.

UDFA Andrew Lauderdale might show something in the preseason. He could end up making Barnes expendable. They might still go with the veteran though.

We're stacked at OT on paper, but things could go south(I don't think they will). Armstead's injury history, Strief's age, Ramczyk is a rookie, they might want to keep Peat at LG, & Kelemete(LT) might be filling in for Unger at center. I don't think we keep Barnes, but stranger things have happened.

He's still alive? I remember Barnes when he was in his prime, blocking for Jim Brown. Or was it Jim Taylor?
