Any point someone is making using the "worst defense in NFL history" as support is still valid. You proving it is not actually "The Worst" does nothing to speak to the actual point.

It's simply just a canned response to deal with the fact that this year has been pissed away.

Patty-O, I get your frustration with some of the people posting on here and who just keep saying that. I realistically want to, and have good justification in doing so, discuss and critisize this defense, their performance, "the scheme" and the coordinators.

I've posted plenty of stats besides the yardage stat, including past defensive performance.

I'm just tired of everyone giving the defense and Spags a pass because the offense wasn't good or because the coach and GM were suspended, replacement refeeres or because of Vilma or too many commercials or whatever. I'm simply talking about lack of tackling, missed turnover opportunities, inability to stop the run, rush the passer or cover WRs, the lack of improvement througout the year. (I didn't see improvement. I saw a five random good games. That's just sporadic good play. Same way Brees had sporadic bad play.)

I know, and freely admit that there are other circumstances involved in the amount of yardage given up, the win-loss record, etc. That's not a defense to how bad this defense actually played though.

Romeo has stated he is not going to coach in the NFL after the Belcher deal so no he wouldn't be a option in New Orleans

Because we had a losing record and missed the playoffs and our defense gave up an NFL record number of yards and our coach was suspended for a year and our 100 million dollar quarterback threw a crap load of interceptions in four games and had his record setting touchdown streak stopped and now we're angry as hell and we're not gonna take it anymore!!!

Honestly at this point, I think you could bring in all 5 of the top d coordinators and our defense would still suck under the current personnel.

The one thing I look to with a d coord is improvement, and the defense did get "better", even if it was like 1/10 to 1.2/10.

I'm willing to give spags another year to show something because I don't think anyone else could do any more with the guys we have.

Our defense literally has like 2 players in its entirety that are worth keeping. That's pretty pathetic.

AND once again even tho it doesnt belong in this thread.

The biggest frickup the saints have made in this regime is the Harper contract. At the time there might not have been much better options but wtf, harper is a undersized linebacker trying to play safety.

Harper would have been great in the 70's and 80's maybe.

Let's go and make him the highest paid safety at the time... thats smart.

That's honestly the only thing this gm has done that I completely disagree with
