Look at his age. Look at his latest surgical procedures. That's a lot of scar tissue in various places at an age where the human body begins to not respond positively like it once did.
If he can't hack it then he can't and he's gone. No harm done.

Really? Did you watch Goodwin closely last season? He was awful & a huge liability at center last season.
We were in that position because we didn't have a center worth a shite at all. If it wasn't him sucking then it would be someone else. We were no worse off either way.

The job was up for grabs between Goodwin & Lelito last training camp. Lelito had a start at guard filling in for Jahri Evans in which he played really well at Atlanta in 2013. Goodwin on the other hand was awful for the 49ers in 2013 & that's why they didn't bother trying to resign him yet the Saints brought him, starting him every game.

I find this hard to believe. It became a weekly occurrance to see Goodwin blown up in the run game or blown by in pass protection. You can't tell me Lelito couldn't have done somewhat better. If not, we are trouble at LG because it seems Lelito's job to lose heading into training camp.

I'm kind of worried about it. You would think that if he was any good he would have taken over the center postion last year.
ETA: Improved play next to him from Unger should hopefully help cover any deficiencies.

Reggie Wayne had more receptions than any of our WRs last season

With Reggie's hands, he could 3 more years with Brees.

yap, and i think if you moved him down into the slot primarily, he'd be able to get open pretty regularly

I watched him play a few times last year. Looked like he had lost 3 steps to me. He couldnt get any separation. I dont think he has anything left

I am surprised by the backlash of Reggie... dude wasn't spectacular last year but he was the #4/5 option as well and put up ok numbers.
He was behind Hilton, Moncrief, and Allen/Fleener.... Dude would be a great addition as a mentor/#4 receiver for the Saints. He would also provide Brees with a veteran outlet who just knows where the marker is. I doubt he would cost much and could be had for fairly cheap.

Depending on when you were watching, could that be explained why he had to have his knee scoped in the offseason? I think he's at least worth a workout
IMO, the team will bring in either Gresham or a vet WR, I do not see them bringing in too many new bodies at this time.
Of course, it will be hilarious to hear the talking heads go on-and-on about whatever Vet is brought in will be used to replace JG.
