Why? Because they can do much worse than Dalton.

I'm on team stop kicking the cap down the road, no matter who is the QB.

I'm ok with mediocre QB play next season, even if its Winston which makes the most sense from a cap perspective.
I'm fine with Dalton for another 1 year, $5 million or less, but not sure he takes that.

Guess we’ve found Andy’s alter. To mention Andy friggin’ Dalton in the same paragraph as Mahomes or Rodgers, or anywhere near the phrase “top 5 in the league”, is a crime against humanity. You should be tried at The Hague. Dalton is not even a has-been, he’s a 35 yo never-was. Don’t be fooled by empty stats. Do better.

Not sure if you keep up with actual NFL games, and with that statement I presume you don’t. But Dalton was top 7 in the NFL in qb rating. He’s been better than a lot of big name QBs this year including Rodgers, Stafford, Russ Wilson, Tannehill, Carr. That 7th rating is around where Brees was finishing in his last few years.

You sound like one of the posters saying the same crap at the beginning of the year that argued a hurt Winston was still better than Dalton. I figured most of you died off by now. The king of empty stats was always Winston.

Teddy two-gloves?
Is he still in the league? How many teams have tried and realized he does not have it?

Dalton. Hopefully he will have a better staff. The downside is that the WR room will still be shite

dalton is a top 5 QB in the league this year based on his numbers,
There is absolutely no way you can say this with a straight face (and I think Dalton has played adequately).

Based on what? ESPN hade him 11th in passer rating or 18th in their QBR. Regardless, this is not fantasy football, so makes no sense to look at a spreadsheet to decide if a QB is good. Based on that "stat" he would be above QBs like Herbert, Murray, Carr, Brady, Fields, Jackson, Rodgers and Cousins and close to Allen and Lawrence. Tell me honestly that you would not take one of those over Dalton to guide your team into the future.

Have we sunk so low to imagine thst Andy Dalton is superior to a number of potential free agent QB'S on the foreseeable market ?
