You really can't plan on it anymore. Isn't Osweiler the perfect example? They didn't have enough insight to extend him before last year. Then he does okay and ya decide he is THE guy to replace Manning... poo, plan gone. An Luck or Rodgers situation has to fall into your lap.

I think they keep pouring resources trying to make a real defense. Get that in place and you can bear with a journeyman (Dilfer led Ravens in SB) or an unproven rookie. Focusing on THAT is much more productive and practical than our next QB IMO.

Still have faith in Grayson.

There's something about his game film that just makes me feel like he can do it in this offense.

Saints have a horrible season when Drew retires and then manage to get the #1 pick and select an NFL ready QB just like the Colts.

I wouldn't hold your breathe for that one. Luck is, for most, the highest graded QB prospect of all time coming out of college (some have Elway). Hoping for anything even remotely similar is futile. It isn't happening. If there was a guy like that in college right now we would know about him already

Well no less likely than picking up a discarded player, QB in this case, that leads his new team to their first SB win and becomes a HoF lock

Very true, but how often does lightning strike the same spot twice?

There are none. It isn't something that you can plan on. We went almost 40 years before Brees without a franchise quarterback. The closest we had was Manning and Hebert, and it's debatable how much of franchise qb's they were. One way or the other we are going to have to luck into one either through the draft or free agency. If we are super lucky then Grayson maybe develops into that, but there is no telling at this point. All the more reason to put something together while we have Brees and why it's such a shame that we have wasted the last few years with mediocrity. A franchise qb is maybe the most difficult thing to replace in all of sports.
The 49ers did it so it does happen...almost never, but it happens.

QFT.

Look around the NFL.

How many legit, franchise, first ballot HOF'ers do you see out there?

Without Brees the Saints don't win 3 games last year.

They get the most $'s b/c they are game changers.
