OP is correct.
Not only that, but, the Saints players and coaches are, IMHO, doing some serious soul-searching today, and are re-dedicating themselves to the goal.
The Saints are going to be the very best that this roster* can possibly be -- they will give maximum effort.
I hope they get very, very far into the playoffs.
* Injuries and talent-limitations of some roster spots are constraints.
PS Speaking for myself, personally, I would be very happy with winning the NFC South and one playoff win against a Wildcard opponent. That would fill my cup for the 2013 season.

I don't think anyone would disagree with this, but Bush was playing a lot of snaps before Harper was even hurt.
He was just bad this game. PFF has his overall rating as -2.5 and -2.2 against the rush. He's still +0.3 for the year with this performance though.
Quddus only played 8 snaps, mainly on passing downs.

pretty short-sited way to look at it, especially considering how we lost to the patriots.
We blew out a team last week and put up 35 points.

The Saints are what they are: a defensive liability and a one-dimensional offense. If Brees has a bad game, they lose. If he plays lights-out they win. Sure, the two losses came outdoors, but considering that playoff matchups agains Seattle, San Fran & Carolina, not to mention the Super Bowl, would probably be outside, I'm not getting my hopes up for a playoff win this year. I gave up my seat on the bandwagon after the Pats game when the D showed its true colors. Looking at the schedule ahead, 9-7 would be a good finish for this team.

That's a little harsh.
I see the Saints finishing at 12-4 (#3 seed) and winning one playoff game in the Dome. Hard to go much farther when you can't stop the run and can't run to mitigate the pass rush.

Drew Brees plays better in cold weather than he does in warm weather
There isn't a team that is an automatic loss. Seattle has similar issues to the Saints, except against worse teams.

That's been the Jets all year. The week before that they beat the Patriots who are 6-2 and barely lost to those same Bengals. Teams have bad weeks, it happens.
Are the Colts really 20 points better than the 49ers at SF? Teams have off days, injuries, etc, but fact remains Saints have lost to two teams with a combined 12-7 record by a combined 9 points on the road. It happens.
If the Saints win all of their remaining home games only, they'll end up 10-6. They still get to play ATL that has become a dumpster fire and STL. If they win those they end up 12-2 with 2 losses on the road to Seattle and Carolina.
Saints lost to the Rams in 2011 and still were 30 seconds away from hosting the NFC championship game despite having almost no running backs in their last game of the year.

Saints lost that game on an INT in the last 3 minutes of the first half that a WR simply popped up and screwed up.
That is 7 points handed to NY and momentum.
3rd and inches dropped pass.
Missed medium range FG.
Saints players and coaches simply started pressing. That is what hurt this team yesterday and are correctable.
The only real two issues that will continue to linger are poor OL coaching and an insistence on abandoning the running game before the game even starts.
