Roby was needed in the past due to a lack of young ST players that were worth a damn. No longer an issue.

Who do you keep referring too?

you realize there are 9 other players on ST units?

So they should only try to be that good? What about trying to be better than that team?

And that hinges on having a 5th WR that we can actually play in a game? When history shows that we more than likely will never need that WR to play in a game?

makes sense.

One thing I hope can be agreed upon is that our Super Bowl chances are not intengent upon Courtney Roby.

Drew Brees is the only one our chances ride on. However, Im not sure if you are familiar with the 2010 San Diego Chargers. A playoff team on paper that had top 5 offense and defense, yet couldnt get it done because their special teams were HORRIBLE.

Roby may or not make it. The KO rules could be his downfall because it makes it 1 dimensional. However it will be at the expense of someone that can fill his role on coverage units, not a 5th WR that only plays WR. I feel like I have typed this 100x's in this thread. Im done expending energy on someone that will be at the bottom of our roster. :geauxsaints:

Johnny Patrick alone might make Roby expendable. He looked great against San Fran and is a much better athlete. He will need to show it during the entire preseason to take Roby's gunner position away though. Other players capable of upgrading ST positions: Wilson, Amaya, Herring, Morgan, Bussey. Roby not holding a roster spot as only a gunner opens up for more depth on the team. Not sure what's so confusing about that

You do realize that Roby does not fit the mold of all those other positions right?

You try to improve in all aspects of the game. Whether it's a 5th WR or a 9th LB, every single position should be an attempt at perfection. How long have you been paying attention to sports?

What games are you referring to that exhibit Roby as a good Kick Returner even before the rule change. He was terrible last year, absolutely horrible. He ran straight and got tackled by the first defender that hit him.

Morgan can do all that Roby does, plus return punts and comes cheaper.

not sure about everything...Roby had some PHENOMENAL plays on coverage the last two years. Him diving on that ball 6 inches from the sideline against SF last year while going full speed was one of the best special teams coverage plays I've ever seen.

I like K.O. returners who run staight FWIW be it whom ever. Thats the way you do it. Blocking helps.
