We get to relive Orgeron coaching hires but at the NFL level.

This is the issue in this thread. The two situations could not be more different. O has ruined an entire program, the locker room, the Nfl first attitude, everything.

The Saints have an elite defense, known leaders in the locker room. A few pieces are needed on offense. Albeit significant pieces, only a few positions. A complete overhaul is not needed.

I am absolutely for continuity in this case…at least in the short term. Give Dennis 2-3 years to make these couple of changes. Reward him after this, or fire him. Do what the nfl does,.

Hiring Allen and keeping PC is the ultimate Meh hires. Has any player even come out and given a statement on the hires yet? It’s just “Meh”.

I’m okay with it as Loomis did interviews and supposedly hired the best person for the job. Completely different than Alleva who screwed up a firing one year, fired a coach mid-season, forgot to do any due diligence until the season was over, got played by one coach for a bigger contract, then only interviewed one guy who was already there and hired him. Process matters in coaching hires.

Still though…Meh!

Outside of the Chiefs, we have won the most games in the NFL during the last 5 years. What about that screams tear it down and rebuild?

Carmichael will be fine if the roster is solid.

This is not inspiring. So its all up to the players now?

What Nick is saying is personnel matters. We lacked the personnel last year. Nobody can be good without players.

Sean Payton ran the 30th ranked offense with shitty personnel. I don't think you can expect Pete to do much better if we trot out the same replacement level players this year.

I get what he is saying about the personnel, but the other message here is that, hey, we are going to run this same offense from this same perspective and if the player are not upgraded then its not the OC's fault.

I am Ok with Carmichael taking over the offense, if he wants the job and believes he can make it better, then he deserves that opportunity. I just hope he can make it his own and not just be a substitute for Payton.

If you think Archie would let his grandson play in NO, you got another thing coming. This would be like Eli's SD Chargers situation on steroids.

Wonder what swung the pendulum back on this? Not mad at all but they seemed pretty sure they were gonna reassign him

Ultimately, the success and failure of the offense is going to be primarily determined by what players the team acquires.

Bill Walsh could call plays and if they don’t have better players than last year it won’t matter.

Carmichael will be fine if the roster is solid.

Fresh eyes won't matter if we don't have weapons. If we get some talent on offense Pete will be fine.

The last five years we had a great offensive mind designing and calling played as head coach. Now we have a career assistant taking over the offense. I didn’t say we need to tear it down. But it is uninspiring and Meh. It’s a “run it back and see if it works” mentality which isn’t exciting or inspiring.
