Gruden

even funnier is he thinks jay gruden is a better coach than payton

Nope, going off of the past 2 years. Nice try though.

As for Coughlin, he has won 2 Super Bowls, so he is better than Payton on that alone. Gruden? Apparently you don't watch much football, because if you did then you would see what he has done with that shitstorm of a team the last 2 seasons. Unlike Payton with the Saints, Gruden has shown progress and now has them in the playoffs with a division championship.

What? Gruden hasn't even coached in a decade

Pretty sure he is talking about Jay Gruden.

If we were to fire Payton after two 7-9 seasons we would put ourselves into a Cleveland Browns type situation. We don't need a change at the head coach position, coordinators and GM must go.

I think we're rebuilding and I'd give him a couple years to try it out. In 2013 I think they made the conscious decision to patch and push for another superbowl and it failed. Now they're sort of rebuilding.

I don't disagree with this. Like I have said, I am not on the fire Payton bandwagon. I started this thread to gauge the "Payton is Greatest Coach" crowd and their fanatical support of him.

Fearing what we may bring in to replace him is a genuine concern.

Finding Bruce arians, Mike McCarthy, John/jim Harbaugh, and Sean Payton are a lot harder to find than chuck Pagano, Jim Caldwell, John fox, mike smith's

I'll weigh in. It would be a huge mistake to allow Payton to leave. I watched the Jags game in a Vegas sportsbook without sound and marveled at our offensive approach. You could see the fingerprints of Payton and Brees in the execution and scheme. All this with a patchwork offensive line and new WR corp. I sometimes wonder if some of yall watch other games. Games where teams struggle to get first downs, to execute long drives. It's not enough to have an elite QB. It takes a coach that can mesh with that elite QB. I don't want to lose that.

Yes, the defense top to bottom needs an overhaul. I would can Johnson and Vitt. The rebuilding has begun (Anthony) and the defensive backfield was decimated with injury. If someone wants Payton to walk because of his bad decisions and judgements on that side of the ball, I can't argue. I think we are better off riding it out with Payton and fixing the cap and defensive issues.

I'm an older Saints fan and I have lived the dark, dark days. I don't want to go back there.

and Payton's winning % is still better than 90% of the coaches in the NFL today.

You either want the criteria to be the whole resume or the last 2 seasons. Make up your mind.

your list fricking sucks, but im not surprised cause you are truly one of the most idiotic posters on this board, and that is saying a lot

Thank Christ you are not in charge.

The Saints have 2 things that most of the rest of the league wold trade us for; 1) Drew Brees and 2) Sean Payton. You do not improve yourself by getting rid of one of them.

Very few claim SP is the best or irreplaceable. Most say we are better, near term, with him than without.

Stop being a moron every time you post.

Really helps when your division is made up of three of the worst teams in football.

Jay went 4-12 last year and only won the division thanks to the rest of it being awful and the cowboys injured the whole season.

All the love for Payton because we know it's Loomis' fault for what's been happening the last couple seasons. Paying various players who end up being a cancer or were hurt prior to signing with us.

Payton is still an aggressive coach who dealt with what little he had (outside of Brees) and still got us 7 wins. You could ask ANYONE who isn't a Saints fan to name 1 WR outside of Colston and I guarantee they would be clueless.

He is rebuilding with HIS players who aren't lowlives and that's why I think he deserves more time here.

You must've missed where ZombieKid said Payton is a "top 3 coach... easily". You must've also missed where you "boomed" his post asking me to list who could replace him. Thanks for playing

Marvin Lewis? Who chokes every year?

Gruden? Lmao

Coughlin has 2 Superbowls but tons of mediocre to below mediocre teams

Kubiak? Lmao

Fox? lol

Reid? No ring

McCarthy and Tomlin are debatable

Bill? Absolutely
Carroll? Sure
Arians? Sure, I can accept that
Harbaugh? Acceptable, though they'd be really close

Bottom like he is either top 5, or fringe top 5

Bill, Caroll, Arians, Sean, Harbaugh, Tomlin, Mcarthy would be the top coaches. 1 is clear, the rest can be debated.

Coughlin
Tomlin

Gruden

So consider this. If he's such a bad coach why would there be so many reported interest?

You could do a lot worse with finding a new coach. Hard to find one who is equivalent. Revolving OL all season and young WR group mixed with aging fossils and we still ranked 2nd in yards and top 10 in ppg with a hobbled Brees.

Personnel decisions on defense needs to be given to who is in charge, I doubt Payton was the sole mind behind browner and not more than Ryan.

Well who CAN explain a "fanatic"?

But I always will listen to those who want to fire coach X for coach Y.

Those who want a coach just fired and have not a clue as to what next can take a leap.
