The total games this year (1-4):

Cards - 30/48 passing/ 17 runs - 73.8% passing lost by 12
Buccs - 24/38 passing/ 21 runs - 64.4% passing lost by 7
Panthers - 31/38 passing/ 21 runs - 64.4% passing lost by 5
Cowboys- 33/41 passing/ 23 runs - 64.0% passing won by 6
Eagles- 26/43 passing/ 17 runs - 71.6% passing lost by 22

Compare that to 2014 (2-3):
Falcons - 29/42 passing/ 20 runs - 67.7% passing lost by 3
Browns - 27/40 passing/ 13 runs - 75.4% passing lost by 2
Vikings - 27/35 passing/ 26 runs - 57.3% passing won by 11
Cowboys - 32/44 passing/ 10 runs - 81.4% passing lost by 21
Buccs - 35/57 passing/ 25 runs - 69.5% passing won by 6

Here is the drive breakdown of the first half of the Eagles game:

First Quarter:
Eagles: 6 plays, 1mins 53secs, turnouver on downs
Saints: 7 plays, 2mins 30secs, PUNT
Eagles: 9 plays, 3mins 10secs, INT by Browner
Saints: 7 plays, 3mins 49secs, TD to Watson
Second Quarter:
Eagles: 12plays, 4mins 10secs, INT by Breaux
Saints: 4 plays, 46 seconds, PUNT
Eagles: 4 plays, 1mins 45secs, TD
Saints: 4 plays, 1mins 24secs, PUNT
Eagles: 8 plays, 4mins 14secs, turnover on downs
Saints: 8 plays, 3mins 29secs, PUNT
Eagles: 4 plays, 1mins 3secs, PUNT
Saints: 2 plays, 0mins 21secs, FUMBLE
Eagles: 6 plays, 1mins 2secs, FIELDGOAL

The last two seasons, the playcalling is inexcusable on offense, solely Payton's responsibility. Look at the Browns and Cowbows games in 2014 we ran the ball 13 and 10 times? That's insane. And there is a bullshite, cocky, not-ready-to-play attitude on this team that has been creeping its way in since last season and even 2013. And that falls on Payton. False starts at home, unnecessary penalties, coming out the gate flat, no opening drive fire, etc...

He needs to hire an offensive coordinator or step down as HC and concentrate only on OC. He can't do both anymore for whatever reason. As someone else said, and I have said before, Payton's head and heart just does not seem to be in this game anymore. His attitude on the sidelines, his attitude in post game pressers, the teams attitude under him, they all point to a burnt out man.

Sad thing is, the McCown game showed a flash of promise, of better playcalling. He called some short passes, he called some solid plays, McCown went 31/38 passing / and we ran it 21 times. That's passing the ball 64.4% if the time.

The buccs game Brees was playing injured, still, we only lost by a TD. We almost won the panthers game with McCown running a solid offense and the highest completion percentage of a game this season, until Payton called a bomb for no reason when we had been driving well and using the "dink and dunk". We won the cowboys game with our highest amount of running plays and percentage of the season.

We lost Cards and Eagles game by more than "one possession", we threw the ball over 40 times while running it under 20, and our offense looked like dog shite.

Too many screens, way too much shotgun, lack of a running game, too many deep routes, stalled drives, 3 and outs, and the list goes on and on. The consistency of lining up in shotgun, sending all the receivers deep, no underneath, and no checkdown and then letting Brees get drilled is insane. We dont have the oline to support that and theres no reason for those calls.

Payton needs to give up one or the other, HC duties or OC duties. Or he needs to be fired altogether.

Good stuff

It seems we've started out okay this year, either leading or tied early but completely fall off in the 2nd quarter.

He was a mediocre coach without 3G

Now he's just a shell. A red bull guzzling, pill popping piece of white trash. Probably has STDs.

Saying we shouldn't look around for a new HC, because the fanbase can't immediately identify his replacement off the top of their heads is asinine. It doesnt even allow for discussion.

I dont know. I'm not the GM. I dont have indepth knowledge of other team's coaching staffs or a way to scout that.

Payton was an unknown who has been on 9 different staffs and back and forth between college and the NFL in 17 years before coming to New Orleans. I'm sure there are a few guys out there that could make a good HC.

I'll be looking around this week and researching who I like so i can tell Mickey next time I see him.

I'd like a guy with NFL experience, defensive minded, who will just be a head coach. Then I'd like to hire a new OC, whether in house or otherwise.

I don't have quarter by quarter breakdown but I swear to God we seem to go scores less frequently like a quarter and a half at a time since 2012 in essentially every game. Not to beat a dead horse but some of us have been stating for years that just because the offense was "ranked in the top 5" didn't mean we had a particular dominant offense. Racking up shite loads of yards in garbage time or in attempting a big comeback doesn't make you am elite offense. In our best years our offense was always pressing, always putting pressure on the other team. That hasn't been the case in years.

I haven't been happy with his playcalling for a while now but I would hate to get rid of him. But, his demeanor is just shite now. It's tough to get behind him right now.

Brian Billick says Sean Payton Should Consider Giving Up on Play-Calling

I completely agree that he needs to hire an OC and concentrate on being the Head Coach.

If the fan base of a small market team wants to fire an 87-53 (.621) Super Bowl winning coach after five games without having a suitable replacement, that is what's asinine. It's easy to say fire this guy. Fire that guy. But who is better. I'm not saying we shouldn't look at making some changes, but just saying "fire the head coach" is short sighted. And yes, if you're going to make that kind of suggestion on here, I'm going to call you out on it.

Nothing against you Breesus, you're one of my favorite posters. But these players suck. If Ingram breaks a run, if Spiller breaks that Malcolm Jenkins tackle, if the offensive line wasn't dog shite, if Cooks attacked the ball, if Colston could catch and hold onto the ball then drives wouldn't stall and we may have won. But those guys suck. That's the bigger problem here. And Payton has his hand in that. And I think the OC should call the plays while Payton manages the team this year. But I don't think we throw the baby out with the bath water. We are rebuilding. Get ready for a few lean years.

I'm my op I said this:

We're saying the same thing in different ways. Payton needs help and if he refuses to admit that, then he needs to go. We're rebuilding. We have a tough season or two ahead. He needs to acknowledge that the.

I don't think it's THAT horrible. It's bad, but it's not catastrophic.

Two problems that were evident today:

1. He had a washed-up receiver who could only lift one arm on the field for three quarters, and he got as many targets today as anyone until garbage time at the end of the game.

2. This team absolutely sucks at football fundamentals, such as pass protection, catching passes, tackling, and defending an opponent's wide receiver without committing a penalty.

This team was not prepared to play today and they don't know how to deviate from the game plan even when it's clearly not working. In my eyes, the Saints only played hard and focused one time the entire season, and that was the loss to Carolina.

Do you think Sean Payton is ready to roll up his sleeves and start at square one? I don't believe we have to worry about him getting fired. I think he's going to walk away before that happens. I mean, just ask him. He's Sean FREAKING Payton. He performed the impossible. He won a Super Bowl with the New Orleans Saints. Come on, one of you teams with a decent nucleus. Make me an offer.
