So most of us want all of the interior line to be revamped. most are saying to cut Jahri Evans, Ben Grubbs and Jonathan Goodwin. I have totally aggreed with this because of the huge contracts Jahri and Grubbs carry and the poor play this last season. But recently we found out Jahri was dealing with an injury all year and that could have effected his play. I really think the worst of the three was Goody which we all know that an O-Line is only as good as its weakest link because the others have to take up their slack.

So what if Jahri and Grubbs restructured and we got their cap numbers down and we drafted a center to take Goody's place would you all object to that? Or do you think that the once Pro-Bowl guards we have are too old and its time to move on?

We could also draft a couple guards to develop behind Jahri and Grubbs and give them time to learn the system and the speed of the game before throwing them to the wolves.

Anyway just a thought, what say you?

If Goodwin is starting at C next year I will rip my hair out.

I think one of the two out of Jahri and Grubbs needs to be gone. I don't think they will get rid of both of them AND Goodwin all in one offseason. Although I personally wouldn't be opposed to it.

Draft a top C prospect in the middle rounds and draft a pretty good G in rounds 1-2 and I think most of our o-line problems would be on their way to being solved. Armstead and Strief are solid. Two young stud interior lineman would go a long way.

Goodwin was horrendous this season. Never seemed to get any push in the running game and always pushed back in the passing game.

Payton has continually deferred to 2009 guys against all evidence to the contrary. Goodwin should not have been playing the second half of last year. Meachem shouldn't have even been on the roster.

Given Evans' history, and the fact that we now know he played hurt all last year, I think he gets a year to redeem himself. I'll still hope a good OL falls to us in the first though.

Or maybe cut Goody and Grubbs, restructure Jahri. Sign a free agent center like Rodney Hudson or Kevin Matthews then draft either Brandon Scherff or La'el Collins in the first round because there is not really any centers worth that pick.

What an opportune time for him to get his "injury" in the limelight. On the chopping block and could possibly lose out on a $7m payday next year? Might as well come up with something to save face.

It's been report that Jahri Evans had minor surgery and will miss the pro bowl. Evan Mathis, guard for the Philadelphia Eagles, has been named in his place. The undisclosed injury didn't limit Evans in games or practice but he addressed it this offseason. You could speculate whether it was a knee or his back which was addressed as he has had problems with both the past 2 seasons, but we will likely never know for sure. Born August 22, 1983, the 9 year veteran will turn 32 before the 2015 season begins.

I don't think he had surgery for no reason.

Two years; before that he was the most durable and arguably best OG in the game.

But he's getting worse, not better.

That's not good for injuries.

Oh I'm not gonna argue the arc his career is on right now. Just the wisdom of cutting a player who was on a no-bullshite hall of fame path as recently as 2013-14.

I did worry about that, jahri being injured. Where was that reported? Was it the back injury flaring up again?

Evans has had back problems for two years and played poorly. I don't think he'll return to form. Unfortunately, his injuries has made his play decline quickly. The saints have no leverage for him to restructure unless he really wants to be a saint

Center isn't a position teams normally draft in first round anyway. Usually the better centers in the draft go in the 2nd round but some slide into the 3rd. Cameron Irving maybe someone who can be picked up outside of the 1st round. He's a tackle who moved inside to center for FSU. He has good feet & moves well which is a plus for pulling & in the screen game.
