I'm betting we don't start the season with four wide receivers . Are we picking Joe Morgan back up or picking someone up who got waved by another team ? Anyone decent get cut yesterday ?

Yes it was straight up said Joe Morgan made the team and the only reason he was "cut" we because of the stupid rule that you have to wait until a certain day/time to put a player on IR- Designated to Return.

I've seen you say this several times, can you post a link?

the 53 man roster as it is right now will NOT be the 53 man roster we take to Arizona in a week's time... there will be changes

Joe Morgan being on it will be 1 of those changes I assume

They're going to short-term IR Keenan Lewis and that's the spot that will got to Joe Morgan once they do. He's on the team

It's in the stickied thread. I believe it was a Kat Terrell tweet.

First several people reported he made the team, then when the news was winding down it was said he was cut. Kat made some calls and found out it was only because of the stupid IR- Designated to Return rule where you have to keep the guy on the initial 53 past a certain point (which is either today as reporters have been saying or Tuesday as it was in 2012 and maybe the other years).

It isn't a 100% guarantee it's Lewis but that is the safe bet. It could be Ellerbe or Humber but I doubt it with only four ILBs being rostered compared to six CBs.

Also pretty sure we're going to claim a TE and send one of the nine DL to the PS.

Here's the deal on Joe Morgan: No, he did not make the roster last minute b/c of numbers, according to a source. But he could be back.

It looks like when the #saints designate a short-term IR player tomorrow, they'll bring back Joe Morgan.

That's pretty risky for both parties.

If another team thinks Morgan is better than their last WR, what's to stop them from picking him up?

If there's a guy the Saints like more on the market, what protects Morgan- simply that he "knows the system"?

Well they have a hand shake deal that the Saints will pick him back up and that he won't bolt for another team (unless it is a great deal, which isn't happening).

And he'd have to agree to go to another team as he is a vested veteran and not part of the waiver system.

Also, the reporters lied about today being the day for using the IR- Designated to Return tag. It must be Tuesday like the past few years.

Had a friend tell me earlier today something about possibly trading for Tavon Austin from the Rams. Anybody else heard this trade suggestion?

Guess we didn't read the tweet by Lyons?

yeah; I'd just hate to be in Morgan's shoes right now. The Saints have basically told him:

"Joe, you have a huge opportunity- Brees knows you better than all but 2 of our WRs, with one being a guy closing his career out and the other coming off an injury. We really like you, just not enough to carry you on the roster (we'd rather go shorthanded, actually, than sign you); you've been passed by 2 guys from practice squads, and one wasn't even ours. And yeah, we did cut you in midseason last year, but y'know... business and all that.

But yes, we like you, so you just hang by that phone and don't look at any other offers, okay?"

He deserved to get cut midseason and no one else will pick him up after that last preseason game.
