"Over two hours, Peters estimated, Embree called Hikutini five times. Shanahan—competing with Sean Payton of the Saints at the end—called him twice. Lynch called him once. Peters sent several texts, and more to Hahn as the derby went on. Something else helped quite a bit: the money. Each NFL team has $98,000 to spend on undrafted college free agents. That's not much, so the 49ers (through Marathe and director of football administration and analytics Brian Hampton) use an approach that several teams use too: They guarantee some money from a player's prospective salary in his rookie year (either on the practice squad or 53-man roster), figuring that it's likely that such a highly regarded player as the top undrafted free agent on the board would at least make the team's practice squad."

The final offer from the 49ers was a $10,000 signing bonus and $100,000 in guaranteed money. That sealed the deal and yet another player was stolen from the Saints' grasp.

Lynch made Payton his bitch. It's crazy how a former player and first time GM outmaneuvered Loomis and Payton

By trading with other teams at the arse end of the 1st round to nab a player they were willing to take at 3 overall? We passed on him at 11 and had ample opportunities to trade up to get him if he was so highly coveted. Lynch did very well for this draft though. Scary if he keeps it up for a couple years.

The extra picks was a great move.
The first pick was great.
2nd pick great if the injury is okay.

After the 1st round the picks are not good at all IMO. I really don't think their draft is that great and would easily take ours over theirs.

OMMMMMMGGGGGG they got an UDFA that likely won't make either roster over us SO OWNED

you know your franchise has hit hard times when you're touting this as a major victory.

The dick sucking of Lynch has gotten out of hand. He simply accepted a trade offer from a complete dumbass of a GM that was a no brainer, moving up to get foster was a nice move but boy genius also wanted to take him #3 overall and he may not even be able to play this season.

maybe Lynch is good with politics too. Inviting Peter King into your draft room was certainly good PR to start. The Niners disintegration after Harbaugh left was incredible.

Gross hyperbole.

Lynch did well, but he didn't do it at the expense of the Saints. You seem to always look for opportunities to bash the Saints. Are you a Saints fan?

I would actually think that maybe the league would have something to say about that practice of offering a kid a guarantee of practice squad money.

If not you can expect more teams to do it in the future.

Payton seems contempt with what is going on....Loomis too. Making a lot of money and going through the motions. We will se at the end of next season.

Not the Fire raging yearning to win....

You could look at the trade with the Bears as a trade-raping and genius by Lynch. Or you can look at it that the Bears were dressed like a ho and were asking for it.

Been saying this for several years....
I was hoping after winning the Suprbowl, we were looking like a NE type organization...
Well we know what happened!

How about we wait and see how R Foster works out?
Lynch could end up looking pretty bad if Foster doesn't work out....(bad shoulder, needs surgery, stupider than a rock, tackels with his head, targets, personal fouls, etc.)
Especially having him rated #3 on his board!

Saints got shite for TEs. Should have went there. Would have had opportunity to produce with a QB.

look at the trade with the Bears

Value wise the trade was about as dead even as you can get.

2 - 2,600

3 - 2,200
67 - 255
111 - 72
Future 3rd - 70
Total - 2,597

While everyone was shocked by it they actually went exactly by the chart.

Now whether Trubisky was worth it is a different matter entirely.

This is also why we did very well not trading up (and everyone bitches when we do but many bitched when we didn't this year, Kamara situation aside). It's expensive to do so and you have to be right about the player and have a grade on then worth the value.

Speaking of Kamara, I'll check the value on that and put it here too.

67 - 255

Next year's 2nd - 210
229 - Not on the chart (chart didn't account for the change with comp picks being tradable now), but 224 is the last pick with a value of 2, so we can assume 229 would hold similar value
Total - 212

So we actually won the trade value wise by a good margin, and also got a player with a late first/early second round grade.

I see people are completely missing your point here.

Yeah but, Foster has injuries

buuut, that dude is some scrub undrafted guy.

Point is, both were our guys and Lynch did what they had to do to get them. Loomis and Payton definitely got played by Lynch.
