@ProFootballTalk
Per source (and as suspected), Jonathan Vilma's suspension has been reduced from full year to remainder of season.

I expected nothing less from that piece of shite. I know it doesn't really affect our team, but it's the idea that he knows he is being an asshat and continues to make the same wrong decision.

That...doesn't help the Saints in any way.
Smith will still be out the same number of games.
Vilma wasn't even playing during his time served.

The NFL says that an explanation of the re-issued bounty discipline is coming soon. Asked for confirmation that the same discipline has been meted out, the league said, “It’s not that simple.” As to specific question as to whether the penalties will be the same, the NFL said, “Not all.

NFLPA releases statement:

quote:

NFLPA STATEMENT ON COMMISSIONER DISCIPLINE
For more than six months, the NFL has ignored the facts, abused the process outlined in our collective bargaining agreement and failed to produce evidence that the players intended to injure anyone, ever. The only evidence that exists is the League's gross violation of fair due process, transparency and impartiality during this process. Truth and fairness have been the casualties of the league’s refusal to admit that it might have made a mistake.

We will review this decision thoroughly and review all options to protect our players' rights with vigilance.

This whole ruling will be sent back to him because he used the word "bounty". Bounty insinuates money transfer, which Goodell does not have the jurisdiction to penalize anyone for. This suspension had to solely be for intent to injure. He just lumped pay for performance AGAIN. The man is a dumbass

What? So if Vilma would have just STFU he would have been back after 8 games as scheduled?

This season = abortion.

"Given that the league has relied this time around on lengthy sworn statements from former Saints defensive coordinator Gregg Williams and former Saints assistant Mike Cerullo, it’s likely that both will testify at the appeal hearing."

This is my favorite excerpt from Florio's report.

Can we use substitute players to serve the suspensions, like he gave us substitute officials? If so, can Shanle serve the suspensions?

Well this ruling along with the ruling from the original three arbitrary judges gives Judge Berrigan all the room she needs to kick this shite.
