Looks like Revis may be going to Bucs for a first and second round pick. Revis in the NFC South FML

I might be the only one but this doesn't scare me the least bit. Revis is good but I think he's vastly overrated.

Brian Urlacher intent on playing in 2013
quote:

Urlacher had previously said he had "no immediate plans" to retire, but that's transformed to "under no circumstance" will he retire. Urlacher also said the book is "closed" on a return to the Bears. "I think their offer is off the table, and after the way they handled it, I don’t know if I want to play for them," Urlacher said Thursday. "Who knows? I may play for $2 million for someone else." Seemingly motivated by spite, Urlacher isn't going to have an easy time getting $2 million on the open market.

I would be surprised if LB Victor Butler doesn't sign with the #Saints. Mutual interest is high.

Saints Remain High On Namdi

quote:

The initial rush of free-agent activity has passed, but a long list of players remain teamless. One of the bigger names still on the market is Nnamdi Asomugha, the former All-Pro cornerback who's been linked to the San Francisco 49ers and New Orleans Saints.

The Saints "remain high" on Asomugha, according to Larry Holder of The Times-Picayune. Coach Sean Payton and general manager Mickey Loomis reiterated at this week's NFL Annual Meeting that they're simply waiting for the three-time Pro Bowler to make a decision about where he'll play next.

New Orleans is a solid fit for Asomugha, who remains close to coordinator Rob Ryan after they worked together in Oakland. The 49ers also have need at cornerback, but the holding pattern suggests neither club has offered much money. After Asomugha's uneven run with the Philadelphia Eagles, a short-term, incentive-laden deal appears likely.

There's no word of a third horse in this race, so Nnamdi's decision -- as of now -- boils down to the 49ers and Saints.

It's okay man. It should always be posted here as well. This is a stickied thread that is more important for timelined information. A lot of the tweets coming in are getting posted both here and in individual threads below. Perfectly fine in my book.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Chiefs are seeking a second-round pick in this year's draft as well as an additional pick in 2014 in trade discussions for franchise player LT Branden Albert.
Source: Adam Schefter on Twitter

enter another LT possibility. Bigger issue with Albert is a suitable long term contract if ya got him. From that blurb I'd think a Saints 2014 1st would work. Dunno if Albert is that good myself.

See if brown can hold up a season and perform sufficiently. Have McKinnie as a backup just in case. Draft another 3rd or 4th rd guy.

Also- write Joeckel in as #1 overall in ink now. A "contingent" of Chiefs personnel including coach Andy Reid and GM John Dorsey will conduct a private workout with Texas A&M LT Luke Joeckel on Friday.

The Chiefs franchised Albert, if he's traded with the franchise tag, does the receiving team have to honor the tag or can they renegotiate from scratch?

Because if either is the case, you're looking at a sizable contract.

They can renegotiate but have the same deadline before the tag hits the cap.

from what they are asking in return only a team wanting to sign him long term would be interested. Doubt any team would do the deal without first having such a contract agreed upon with him.

They'll keep him before letting him go cheap. It's not any "they're gonna release him anyway" situation.

yeah, because that would be retarded.

So, in other words, the franchise tag is meaningless to the receiving team?

in essence yes. it serves more for KC to hold the rights to him and get what they can

If there had been no contract situation with Brees we coulda tagged Nicks and prolly got a 2nd for him the same way.
