Just stop. You are full of baseless thoughts.

I agree with you kinda.
We are changing to accept that fact of Drew's age and that we can not allow him to get pounded like he got last year, which will mean more power running and maybe less down long field throws but because he cant throw them but because we dont want him pounded.
I actually hope he maybe throw less but complete more.

Tut, you made a point I failed to make. I think your explanation may be far better than mine per the long ball. Brees is not a rollout deep ball QB. He steps up in the pocket, and last year he got crushed while waiting for his WR's to get deep. Even with better protection, holding on for a deep ball brings it's risks. Hence, building the current roster.
I guarantee that Brees in his season ending discussion with SP, said, I'm not going to get crushed again this year. And from the Saints standpoint, they are very lucky he somehow survived. He is the crown jewel of the Saints, and as you said, must be protected better, or risk injury and with that - the end of the season for the Saints.
So maybe I should have named the OP, instead of "changing abilities" to "self preservation for the good of the team"

I know what you are trying to say about the personnel change could be indicative of a change in philosophy. You might be right about that but it has nothing to do with Drew's ability to throw the deep ball.
