If thats the best available but it would worry me if Payton left that Smith would be considered for HC

3 times in the top 10(4 if you give him 2004) and never less than 17th in fricking Jacksonville is quite impressive.

but i'm more interested in Venables.... i think he would be a great hire...

Unless Payton is gone or Allen gets a HC job, i'd put money on Allen being the DC next year.

Just look at the staff. Payton doesn't fire his bros. He isn't demoting Allen back to some position coach or "consultant" spot. That DC job was his months ago.

What is happening here? Is this serious? Mike Smith was average at best, at least as a HC. I'd say defensively, even worse. Look at ATL's Defensive statistics and rankings the whole time he was in ATL. Not good.

You do not want mike smith as your DC. I feel like I'm in an alternate universe with this thread. What's going on?
