Haven't we met with all of these guys? I think it's safe to say we will likely be getting one of these guys at 31 or 45.

Yep...

Who we go way is the question.

Kendricks is probably gone by 31. And I think it's between McKinney and Anthony. Anthony is probably the better MLB, but McKinneys size and versatility is very intriguing as well. And I like Perryman a lot as well.

I would be really happy with any 1 of them though and would be thrilled if Kendricks is somehow available for us, but doubt it. But stil can get a very good ILB at the 31 or 44 spot.

So is "edge rusher" going to be the next annoying catchphrase at the draft this year?

Sort of like "upside" and "high motor".

Edge rusher is easier to say than having to go through and differentiate between a 3-4 OLB or a 4-3 DE.

Uh no. I think it's going to be the next position. Sort of like defensive back.

Since they project at WDE and/or OLB depending on the system, they are just defined as "edge rushers".

Why are people suddenly getting their panties in a twist about this term? It's actually one of the better terms that have arisen in sports lately IMO.

People are misusing the term though. It's supposed to be edge as in DE and OLB (someone who plays on the edge) but it's not strictly for pass rushing LBs. Edge rusher is not correct.

So it's not really an improvement on anything as there is still confusion on what the term means and who it applies to.

Honestly it would be better if it was edge rusher and you can use that for the tweener end/olb guys and call more traditional OLBs OLBs and bigger DEs DEs.

Dupree and to an extent Beasley aren't the same as Ray and Gregory.

I guess this guy is going to keep on creeping up the boards. Somebody is going to reach on this guy.

not a lot of talk about that guy until the Combine

Not really true. He was pretty popular in the draft community before the combine.

i was mainly talking about just this board.

I guess this is just another way of saying I don't really get the hype with him.

sometimes the guys who are too good to be true at the Combine don't really appeal to me.

Dupree isn't someone who all of a sudden blew up at the combine. He had solid stats throughout his career and is a versatile defender who can play the run (as evidence by his tackles for a loss) and has pass rush skills. He can also play the pass though I wonder how well he can do so at the NFL level.

I usually respect your opinion and thoughts, so don't get this twisted.

But you're basing a prospect on his noteriety on Saints Talk? I don't think ST is necessarilly the bar that should be set for this standard.

I feel like Dawson and Kendricks are the most complete, but I do agree that Mckinney's size and versatility do increase his value. And by versatility I mean that he can apply pressure as an OLB. I saw in a few game they rushed him off the edge and he looked explosive. I would still rather Kendricks, Dawson, and even Perryman before him but its just another thing to think about when evaluating Mckinney.

yeah, I haven't followed the draft coverage like I use to.

I don't watch it on TV and I haven't really heard much talk on the radio about it. I read this board a lot and I have to say I don't read all the threads.

i guess not seeing any Kentucky games also disqualifies my opinion too.

there is a lot of football I like to watch and Kentucky aint one of the teams that demands attention in my opinion.

I watch the NFL a lot more than college, always have.

and I didn't watch as much college this year because I got season tickets to South Alabama football (exciting I know)

I have read up on the ILB's and saw a few Senior Bowl practices though.

Yep...

Miss St had McKinney play all over the field... At the MLB spot, at OLB, and he's even put his hand in the dirt and played DE in obvious pass situations. And he's pretty good at all of that.

He's 6'4 246lbs, long arms, ran a 4.66 in the 40 and has a 40.5" vert. Very explosive and has great size and athleticism, can play multiple spots and can make an impact wherever he lines up. Could be a big time player. And he's also a very dedicated player that coaches love. Might not be true MLB, but he's gonna be a good player wherever he lines up at.

Kendricks is the top ILB IMO, but will go in the mid 1st most likely. After that, it's between McKinney, Anthony, Dawson, and Perryman. I really like Anthony a lot. He's a player. But I'm not a Dawson fan. And it's more with his attitude and work ethic than a bad combine. Some have questioned how committed to football, character issues, and it's been said he's not a film room study type of player. He still dominated in college and is a very good looking prospect, but that won't fly in the NFL. And I'm not sure what LBer spot he plays in the NFL. He was a dominant player at TCU though and if he can get his attitude right, he could be a big time player.

My MLB rank: Kendricks, Anthony, McKinney, Dawson, and Perryman.

The good thing is that there are 5 very good ILB prospects and with us having the 31 and 44 pick, we are in prime position to land 1 of them.
