Ryan's current and former players, his coaching colleagues and scouting analysts from around the league all are in agreement that his scheme's most recognizable tendency is that he doesn't have a recognizable tendency.
There's no simple formula he has relied on throughout his 16 years in the NFL and 11 years in the college ranks.

"I think first of all, it's very multiple," Saints safety Jim Leonhard said. "It's not a system where it's, 'This is who we are, this is all we do,' like a Tampa 2 kind of system. He's very flexible."

At least he's not inflexible like Spags.

"A lot of different variations," Saints guard Ben Grubbs said.

Couldn't this be a negative? I remember reading something when he was the DC for the Cowboys that a big reason his defense was struggling was because he had so many variations in his defenses that his players would get confused. Which in turn results in blown assignments.

Having your identity be that you don't have a identity can be dangerous imo.

The big thing this isn't Dallas where is all about Jerry jones. He can let it rip here and I think our defense is going to be awesome. Dallas is a coaching nightmare because everything goes thru Jerry first. Defense will be in the top 15 bank on that

He keeps a turkey club in the elastic of his shorts for long practices.

Probably had more to do with Romo putting them back on the field on a regular basis

Does Ryan have a large tumor in his stomach? He doesn't seem to be in pain.

Both Ryan's are blowhards with nothing to back it up. The apple definitely did not fall far from the tree. They try to get by on bluster alone and you get real tired of them real quick.
