Lets say Brees walks after this year, and the Giants end up with a top 5 pick and go QB

Do you go after Eli?

No

Maybe you trade a 3rd rounder for Alex Smith.

But Brees isn't going anywhere.

Id rather start Chase Daniel and bottom out for a high pick than have Eli

Makes sense... you’d bottom out either way

Eli looks more done now than Peyton did his last season...he needs to retire immediately.

If I'm the Giants I'd strongly consider a move for Alex Smith myself.

Eli is garbage.

My thoughts exactly. Smith is playing great but the Chiefs are anxious to get Mahomes in there.

Throw the 25m at Cousins we were going to throw at Brees.

I like to make fun of that goofy mother fricker as much as the next guy, but have you seen his OL? It's complete shite. He may get sacked into retirement. Archie is actively seeking a trade to San Diego.

This is actually another very realistic option I think.

Like I've been saying, I think it all depends on playoffs. If we make it, he stays for one more run on a finally upward trending team. If we don't, he looks for a team like the Jets or Denver to try for one last Super Bowl.

this

all signs point to a solid offensive line (when healthy), solid RB core, solid WR core, and a young defense finally putting it together

I’m like 75% sure Manning will be a Jaguar. Coughlin is there, and their offense with a teeny bit of OL help is a Ferrari. Great defense, ton of WRs, decent TEs, great RBs. It would be a good situation for late-career Eli.

I'll give them props for having a 3-2 record, but they're still the most dysfunctional organization in football besides the Browns.

I say that but should have also said Brees most likely has a few very good years left which is amazing. As of now his passing rating is above his average with no INT.

Alex Smith please.

If Brees walks, Alex Smith is probably one of the only options that would help make the transition easier. However, with that said, Smith keeps playing the way he is and he's gonna get himself a $100 million dollars.

Please do not do this.

What's the point of wallowing in mediocrity for a few more seasons?

It'll be time to rebuild if Brees leaves, unless our D continues to show it's legit, and then at that point, a guy like Cousins still isn't the guy to put you over the hump unless you have a top 3 type defense.
