re: "Laquon Treadwell is the most natural number one receiver in this draft class"

Also, per PFF's Top 40 Big Board
10. Corey Coleman, Baylor WR
Whether creating separation before the catch or yards after it, Coleman’s athleticism stands out. He has the ability to make plays at all levels of the field.
15. Leonte Carroo, Rutgers WR
A good combination of speed and separation skills, Carroo was incredibly productive on only 363 snaps last season averaging 4.11 yards per route to lead all FBS receivers.
25. Josh Doctson, TCU WR
Our top-graded WR before going down to injury last season, Doctson routinely makes incredible catches, turning off-target throws into big plays. That downfield ability makes him one of the most exciting playmakers in the draft.
26. Laquon Treadwell, Ole Miss WR
While he doesn’t create the same kind of separation you’d like to see from a top wide receiver prospect, Treadwell is strong (though inconsistent) at the catch point and good with the ball in his hands after the catch.
33. Michael Thomas, Ohio St WR
Production took a hit due to inconsistent quarterback play, but Thomas knows how to get open and he was a big play threat when targeted.
34. Sterling Shepard, Oklahoma WR
Our top-graded wide receiver in 2015, Shepard combines nifty route running with underrated downfield ball skills. Even though most of his work is done from the slot, he has the quickness to produce and validate his standing at the top of the draft.
I really think Doctson would be the best fit on the Saints, given what we have at WR already.

What WRs have been the main ingredient of any deep playoff team lately?
maybe steelers with antonio brown which compares favorably to cooks which i'm not even in favor of spending the 12 pick on WR, i'm on beefing defense side.

Could you imagine if we had TWO Coleman on the same team and playing the same position!? Mind blown.

I think the point he's making is that Falcons, Giants, and Lions (probably others as well) have once in a generation talent at the WR position and aren't winning Superbowls.

Like Laquon, Will Fuller is going to be a beast. No doubt about it. I wouldn't mind having him either, but we need a good defensive line man before anything else.

Lol, Jeffrey, Green, and Evans are all game changers.

Neither have Calvin or Deandre Hopkins.

Hopkins wasn't even that touted coming out...

Coleman has a bad case of the dropsies. Not sure what to make of it

I liked what he showed the last month of the season

There is a difference between being a guy that runs up stats and someone that demands double/triple teams and can dominate a game more than 1-2 times a season.
I mentioned those 3 specifically bc while they are true #1s in the league, they are not at the same level as Julio, Calvin (in prime), Hopkins, Brown, Gronk... Those three on a statistical level may be some of the top WRs in the game, but there is a big difference between the top 5 (Julio, Calvin, Hopkins, Brown & Gronk) and those three.

we need a receiver more than any position
Saints had the #1 pass offense in the league last year and by some metrics the worst defense in the history of the NFL... I will agree you're right we need another WR behind our #1 guy, who is a legit #1 WR btw, but to claim it's our biggest need is incredibly foolish and dismissive of how historically bad our defense has been the last 2 seasons.
I was very shocked by the Saints drafting Peat #1 last season, but I would be infinitely more surprised if we went offense with this pick again. Guard is a big need, but I think the Saints bring a veteran to fill that spot. I think Kelemente has been overlooked a lot, dude has played in a lot of games for us the last few years.
Saints go DLine or OLB here, regardless of whether Treadwell is there.

Did you not watch the Saints this past season? Our defense made most offenses look like All-Pro squads.

agreed
I wouldn't be surprised if management isn't thinking WR at all in the top half of this draft. Historically bad defense (for the second time in four years) will do that to ya.

We're just going to have to agree to disagree. I might give you Evans (even tho he's a physical mismatch against 95% of CBs in the league). But Alshon, and ESPECIALLY Green are right there with that top crop.

I like him and wouldn't complain. Don't see it happening though. As others have said, this isn't just a poor defense, it is historically bad. Hard to imagine enough high impact D players gone for Treadwell to be a must-pick also. Payton and Loomis have all but annoited Coleman as the man to take up Colston's big guy targets.
If he doesn't run at the Combine his stock isn't likely to rise. His speed and ability to separate are the biggest questions teams will be looking for answers to.

we need defense.
We also need to get our offense back to being the best in the league. Offense is our game and we dont strike fear in other teams anymore. We should be able to get front 7 help in the 2nd and 3rd round and also in free agency.

Well if we're getting our offense rolling, shouldn't we address guard before anything? We literally have 0 guards under contract and the two that did play are average at best. Get your run game rolling and it'll set up your passing game. An OL that gets dominated like ours will result in us constantly throwing because we can't run efficiently.
