Two thousand yard receivers with 3 yrs total NFL exp is quite nice.

Fleener and Cooks are going to take the top off the defense and open things up underneath more this year.

On paper we do look young and inexperienced but with CSP so far staying away from FA's he must like who he has even if he is eyeing a WR in the draft.

I still would take Treadwell even at 12 if the draft falls that way. Say its between reaching for a DE or taking Robinson? I'd take Treadwell. Just me. I think with Treadwell, Cooks, Fleener and Snead you have a good young core at WR. Can still go DT in the second round.

What did Landry run a couple of years ago? 4.65 I believe And I would take him on the Saints team anyday.

Landry's ability to run routes made him better than just any possession receiver. He may not be the fastest guy in a 1on1 matchup but he knew how to dupe a defender into underestimating his speed.

We will pass on him. He will be a beast. Everyone on here will melt down, asking why did we pass on him instead of the average to below average defender that the team picks. It has continued to happen in the draft and if they pass on this guy this year it will happen again. There is something to be said for seeing if the guy can play the game. Treadle is a player...Period. slower 40 time or not, he makes plays. The offense needs another WR and the talent in the later rounds will not provide it.

( very possible but I can show you lots of 1st round WR beast who busted) Everyone on here will melt down, (LOL....NO) asking why did we pass on him instead of the average to below average defender that the team picks.(so we screw up and draft poorly because we passed on him or is it we just draft poorly which means drafting Treadwell would end poorly for us?)

Nothing wrong with taking a possession receiver at 12. The guy is a beast and catches almost everything that comes his way. You don't draft him for his speed.

You don't take a "possession" WR at 12. You can find great "possession" WRs in the 2nd round and later (see Jarvis Landry as one example). If you are taking a WR that high, you want a freak athlete with natural ability you just can't teach. You expect that guy not to just be solid, but a game-breaker.

Draft poorly meaning we pick one of the other defensive players (unless one of the better ones slides for some odd reason) that really aren't exceptional as we usually do. I would wish we could get some of the upper echelon defensive guys i.e. Boss, Buckner, etc, but we aren;t in a position. The other defensive guys are decent but none really seem to be exception for the #12 spot. Slow 40 or not, Treadwell with Brees throwing to him would be damn near an all pro in production imo. He makes plays. DE, OG, CB, and DT all have a lot of depth in the draft that are around the same talent-wise by watching the games. Just my opinion, but the guy is worth 12 unless one of the very top guys falls to us
And yes if we pass him, and he balls out elsewhere, expect a hell of a lot of posts about people claiming they wanted the team to pick him above whichever guy is actually picked.

The Saints offense has hummed along for 10 year with some pretty average WRs. Treadwell is a great player. But unless he's rushing the QB or helping stop the run, he's not the missing piece to a super bowl run. Unless the defense gets much better, all the WRs in the world aren't going to push the Saints over the top.

If by unexceptional you mean Darren Howard, Charles Grant, Will Smith, or Cam Jordan then yeah I hope we draft a lot of boring players.

DE is definitely as shallow as WR this draft.

Well your damn right about a lot of people wanting Treads around here.
Hoping that Ireland can just effect another good draft with quality depth.
I try to not lock in on one must get player cause I'll always be disappointed.
Not all all-pro's are in the first round and if your not aware the hit/miss ratio for WR's in first round leans more to the miss side.

Yeah, you need a Dez Bryant at that spot.

I like a lot of the WRs in this draft. I'd pass on Treadwell. Got to be Defense round 1.

I'm going to laugh when its a Safety and the meltdown ensues.

I can pick out many many more who didn't do jack for there team in the same years we got those guys...So can you. Pulling out the exceptions doesn't make you right.

For the record I would agree we NEED defense at 12 but we NEED a defensive player akin to what you were saying. Such as a Bosa or Buckner, or hell, even Lawson. But those players that are left will not likely be there.

Agreed. Would be nice if they could fit in Reggie Nelson maybe at S and eliminate the need for that meltdown! lol

It does actually. I have said numerous times I want a 1st round DE. These are the last ones we drafted.(Howard was 33rd overall).

Who at 12 at DE would you think would be more productive for the team than picking Treadwell at 12?

Lawson or Rankins are my top 2 choices unless someone falls.

Both are the best pass rushers at their positions with the highest grades likely to be there if we have to pick at 12.

I proposed in another thread my dream scenario would be trading 12 and sliding to 22ish. Add a pick to our 2nd to get back in the 1st and draft a combination of Butler and Dodd.

There is always that chance, but there is also the possibility that both him and whoever we draft have a great season/career. Of course, they can both bust.

I just wonder which will be worst, all of the Sproles/Robinson/Ivory threads every time the do something good, or the number of Treadwell threads every time he makes a catch.
