Remember we had a great offense and went 7-9 three years in a row.

Keeping the defense intact as much as possible needs to be the key. Need to keep Jordan, Davis, Lattimore, Onyemata, both Jenkins, and hopefully Williams and Hendrickson on board.

If that requires the trading of Hill, Peat, and even Armstead then that is what it takes.

Payton with a healthy Thomas, Kamara, Sanders, and great OL will still produce a top 10 offense.

Instead of trading everything for Watson it would be better to roll with Winston or trade for Wilson (BYU) so the Saints can fix the cap.

I agree. Offensive turnovers were our downfall this year. Our defense is mostly young and producing at a high level.

I wonder if they will bring Mike Nolan back.

I just think we are focusing too much on a QB when this Saints team has had a higher winning percentage without Brees than with over the last two years.

Some with Bridgewater (will be gone soon from Carolina) and Hill (glorified RB)

both Jenkins

Malcolm for sure. Doesn't seem like we have enough to keep Jackrabbit unfortunately.

Williams and Hendrickson

Likely only one of them stays. Can't believe I'm saying this, but I kinda hope it's Williams. Hendrickson is a beast but how can the Saints afford that?

You wouldn't win longterm with either of those QBs once the league got film on them.

What I don’t get is how people are acting like drew brees was the worst qb in history this past year. And somehow replacing him turns the saints into a .500 team. By the logic of people here qb play will improve regardless of who it is.

Brees at this point in his career is Jekyll and Hyde. When healthy and not worn down, he is still a top QB in the league. the reality is, his body cant handle a full season anymore. That Tampa game, he was clearly not 100% and he was a contributing factor to the loss.

Exactly. If the Brees from 2012-2016 was playing, he would have his full arsenal of throws that he normally makes. However, you could just tell he knew he could not throw the deep ball when he wanted to this year. When Tampa keyed on that, playing short and stuffing the box, that was the end.

It's strange that he was healthy for the first game, and the second game the defensive line took over. But the third....well, the rent came due.

yep, i love the elite juggernaut that can score every drive that we’ve seen in the dome, but some of those teams went 7-9. Payton with a consistent top 12 D, is the long term plan to another SB or 2. It seems Payton can have a skill group made up of just about anyone and get a top 15 offense. Taysom, Bridgewater, McCown, etc have all had really good starts and shown our offense can score with a below avg QB. Above avg QB and a top 10 D and we are super bowl contenders. Sorry Y’all, Brees basically was “above average” the past 3 years and we were contenders.

We can’t afford Williams and Hendrickson. People need to start setting their expectations for us to lose at least one, if not, both of them. They will demand top dollar on the market due to their recent play and position.
