Keuchly Knows the Saints’ Plays/Offense. Called them out all night.

The linebacker was calling out plays the Saints were running throughout the night. Even though this is a bi-annual occurrence, it remains an impressive spectacle whenever it happens.

The linebacker wore a microphone for ESPN throughout this contest, and early in the game, the broadcast showed him calling out plays before they happened.

“I got a great feel for these guys,” Kuechly said in the huddle. “I know exactly what they’re doing. Just listen. I’ll let you know when we’re checking it.”

The Saints have tendencies and these better defenses are also professionals. They study and know what the Saints are doing. I have every faith in Payton/Brees adapting. In many ways, it’s better that this is happening now. We’ve seen the Saints stay ahead of NFL defenses for over a decade now. I have no doubt they will adapt, especially with the bye week and home playoff games in the Dome.

We just need to get the OLine healthy and desperately need a #2 WR to step up.

Keuchly isn’t some defensive savant. They’re tipping plays somehow, and it started at Dallas.

Still took that L.

But man he's a great player. Hate that he had to play for the Panthers.

on the Saints one TD scoring drive, he looked lost. Taysom gashed him on the read option, and Kamar killed him on a mean cut back

Brees disagrees with you.

quote:

“He’s one of the smartest football players to ever play the game,” Brees said. “He’s the quarterback of that defense. He gets all their checks. Highly intelligent, obviously he’s a great, great player. Key and diagnosing, getting to the ball, making tackles and always being around the ball.”

I really don’t think I’d hate the panthers as much as I do if it wasn’t for Cam.

The great teams will self-scout periodically. Now is the time for the Saints to do it. Throw off tendencies for the "second season".

Yeah, that will be interesting. But, I hope it’s unnecessary and we can rest and not show the changes that are coming. Get everyone healthy. If we can beat Pittsburgh, forget that second Carolina game. Then, make changes needed and wreck everyone in the playoffs.

Seems SP has started repeating formations and ensuing plays, holding them back for a playoff run. Didn't seem to notice repetitive plays during the 1st half of the season, but started noticing during Dallas.

Just a theory, so I also agree about getting the OL and WR healthy for the post season.

It’s week 14. If you’ve noticed ppl know what everyone is running at this point. It’s about execution and talent. We will throw a couple of wrinkles in every week but we aren’t rewriting the offense every week. We have 2 major issues. 1) Armstead isn’t playing 2) We only have 1 non running back to throw to. But we are 12-2 and just went 2-1 on a 3 game road trip.

The guy is a good linebacker but in noway a perfect player. We gained 155 yards on the ground.

If he knew every play he sure let them push the ball when they committed to the run on the last drive.

If the saints recievers would have made a few plays last night we arent talking about this at all.

He’s a smart player and a great instinctive linebacker. He plays us a lot so he knows our tendencies but he didn’t “know every play.” He knew he was mic’ed up so he was playing to the audience. Even so he said “I’ve got a great feel for what they’re doing” he didn’t say “I know what plays they’re going to run.”

Regardless, I really don’t like playing that guy

The Saints do a lot of self scouting according to Payton. He talks about it often

The 6 games before last night the Saints scored 31, 31, 34, 20, 41, and 38 against the Panthers.

If Luke knows what they're doing he hadn't executed that well until yesterday.

Keuchly is an average NFL linebacker, and I really don't understand why people droll over him. Before the game, Booger did a piece on his high effort plays...which was basically him chasing down a RB 20 yds downfield because he either line up wrong, got blocked, or flat out torched. Then they were drooling over his high football IQ because of all the stuff he does and says pre-snap. He would occasionally make one or two presnap calls....like every MLB in the NFL...WHAT AM I MISSING HERE?!?
