Thanks for elaborating. I really think he had some early breakout and has regressed to the mean like many players in the NFL, but his hype has lingered.

Too bad the quarterback of the offense is the complete opposite

I'm pretty sure he wasn't. He was talking to his teammates like he normally would. He is always on top of the saints for as long as I can remember. Luckily that doesn't equate to wins all the time.

It’s possible. But it’s also possible that Carolina and Tampa has seen our offense so much they know how to better prepare for it than most teams. And Dallas just being an outlier

I think the biggest reason for our offensive woes the past few weeks have frankly been having to play division rivals on the road back to back. Right after a tough Dallas defense.

Meh.. He made that comment about "knowing all the plays" then the announcers went with it and showed him saying random words before the play. He never called out what play or who was getting the ball.

Yelled at a player to go blitz and then told a guy to watch the guy in motion.

Maybe he did know the plays but the times the announcers tried to "prove it" with him mic'ed up it didn't show any evidence of him knowing shite.

I also loved how they kept saying how smart he was and great tackler he was after we would blow by him and he would catch up and get a tackle after a 10 yard gain.

You may see the fastball but you still have to hit it!

Ok glad I'm not the only one seeing this, because I'm getting down voted to hell for saying it

You are blind if you think he’s average. He’s easily top 5.

why??? As mentioned the two things people point out when showing his highlights are effort (running to make a tackle in the secondary after a RB gashed them) or his off the charts football knowledge (pointing at the offense and making adjustments....which every linebacker in the NFL does) He is essentially the QB of a defense that after looking it up is ranked 16th....which is dead middle of the league.... average. I'll concede that he is an above average linebacker so I misspoke calling him just average.... but he does nothing in my mind to get the attention he gets. Last night he made some excellent reads and tackles. He also never got pressure and was gashed for big plays for both kamara and ingram because he was out of place.

Imagine him in a Saints uniform.

The defense would become all world.

Mad respect for a player playing with a very disrespectful QB.

To quote a friend's facebook feed last night:

So what have we learned so far in the game? The ESPN announcers reeealy want Carolina to win, and they’ve all swiped right on Luke Kuechly.

Pretty much all division rivals that play twice a year every year have a great “feel” for what the other team is going to do. Hopefully the second game with them is Bridgewater handing off to whoever the hell our third RB is and getting Smith and Kirkwood experience

well you could defend your argument by asking this, knowing most people can't because no LB's are as hyped or talked about as this guy...or you could maybe provide me with some concrete examples as to why this guy is so next level. Maybe I'm wrong, and will gladly admit when I am....but so far here are the concrete examples listed by the analysts last night
1. Effort: He will chase down RB's 10 yds into the secondary... this leads me to believe he's pretty average. If he was next level, not many RB's would be making it to that level on a regular basis
2. his football IQ is so high: They mic'd him up which pretty much showed him executing the same pre-snap reads that every LB in the league goes through before the snap. Sometimes he was right...a lot of times he was wrong and we gashed them on run plays. Also see the EFFORT argument above. If his reads are so good, and so next level....why does he need to chase down so many people. His next level, high IQ reads should be stopping this.

ETA: I thought it was pretty funny that the stadium would break out the LUUUKKKE chant when he made tackles after we got first downs

I didn't start the argument. Someone else did. I just asked that you name 5 ahead of him.

Luke has made 4 all pros, 5 pro bowls

2 DPOYs

never had a season under 100 combined tackles

quote:

Kuechly isn't only elite against the rush. When being targeted in the passing game in 2017, Kuechly forced opposing quarterbacks into the lowest passer rating on balls thrown his way among all linebackers across the NFL

leads the NFL in tackles since 2012 (when he entered the league)

most INTS by a LB since 2012

most total takeaways as a LB since 2012

there's more but i'm sick of googling this guy.

not only is he a top 5 LB (IMO he's the best) but he's a top 15 player overall in the entire NFL

Ok...and there we go..I stand corrected. That's some impressive stuff. Didn't see any of that last night. Instead I saw a guy getting hype for correcting his missed tackles, and getting INSANE hype for doing something literally every other LB in the league does.

If you wanna bring out stuff like that and tell me Kuechly is elite...cool. Just don't spend 3 hours drooling over a guy who points and yells before a play.
