But the 17th best Secondary in the league (or whatever) has no business giving itself a badass nickname.

That isn't exactly a badass nickname, considering the NOPD's performance.

A police force that once needed reshuffling, forced retirements and new police officers because of the level of incompetence and corruption They actually had to bring in the NYPD to clean them up.

Just a little something to motivate the guys. I see no problem with this.

Sounds like black offensive players are gonna take a beating.

Could be worse.

This. Seems like Browner also reminds them everyday just how bad the unit was last season.

quote:

The Saints have especially been humbled on the defensive side of the ball, where they finished 31st in the NFL in yards allowed last year despite lofty expectations heading into the season.

quote:

At least one of those newcomers has also served as a new source of motivation -- the veteran Browner, who spent the past two years winning Super Bowls with the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks.

Browner, 30, said he has immediately embraced a leadership role, both as a teacher and a motivator. And Vaccaro said Browner’s voice has been heard.

Just like Browner tells us every day, right when we start feeling like we have a good practice, remember we were 31st last year,” Vaccaro said. “Remember that.”

He may not have a lot of productive years left, but I love the Browner signing. I get why some people were skiddish on the signing but there's a reason he was in the Super Bowl the last two years. His intensity will rub off on everyone big time.

Yep especially the young guys. Browner isn't a long term solution at CB but his addition now could possibly have long term effects by his influence on the younger corners on the roster.

The biggest problem with both P-Rob & Corey White is that they both were never aggressive enough. Neither could ever apply a jam on a receiver like good corners do. They just seemed terrified & played like it. Lewis & Browner won't let these 1st & 2nd year corners not be physical. They both are going to preach it everyday at practice which is something that will stick with the young players for a long time.

Speaking of being more physical, sounds like Kenny is ready to take it there & he sounds more mentally focused too.

quote:

Vaccaro said he was still fighting through the nagging pain of the fractured ankle he suffered in December 2013 for most of last season. On top of that, he said he suffered a grade 2 hamstring tear in Week 1 and a grade 2 quad tear in December.

"I think I was in denial about it a little bit," said Vaccaro, who was eventually deactivated in Week 17 because an MRI showed the quad injury was worse than initially thought. "My ankle really hurt the whole season, and I kinda just masked it, had to get through it. At the same time, we lost two safeties so I’m not about to just go down. And I had the hamstring and the quad, two tears. ... So it sucked, but at the same time, I’m out there, and if I’m out there and I’m playing, I gotta execute. ...

"But no excuses this year. I’m healthy, and I’m just ready to play."

quote:

"We went 7-9. I didn’t have the season I wanted to. It was just a long season, injuries, (allowing) big, explosive plays. I’ve never went through anything like that, really," said Vaccaro, who hopes to use all of those experiences to his benefit.

"I grew a lot," Vaccaro said. "You have a lot of time to think when you’re not in the playoffs."

Vaccaro also grew physically. He said he started training earlier than he usually would because he was so eager to get back to work. And he’s now noticeably thicker. He said he’s up to about 220 pounds from his listed weight of 214.

"I had a bad taste the whole offseason, and I went to work quick," Vaccaro said.

With all the new additions & barring any significant injuries, I really believe this team gets back to how they were in 2013 or maybe even better defensively.

Good thing you guys don't play the University of Miami, the secondary would just run away and hide.
