quote:

Wide receiver James Jones wants the NFL to know that he has cleats and will travel for work.

During an interview with Bruce Murray and Kirk Morrison on Sirius XM NFL Radio Wednesday, Jones said that he is “extremely surprised” that he hasn’t signed with a team this offseason. Jones had 50 catches for 890 yards and eight touchdowns in Green Bay last season, but the Packers have opted to go with younger receivers after turning to Jones in the wake of Jordy Nelson’s torn ACL.

Jones said other teams have expressed some interest in his services and made sure to let any possible suitors know that he’s open to any and all offers.

“I got me a Super Bowl ring,” Jones said. “I’d love to get another one. But my ultimate goal is to play 12 years. And I just want to get out there and play football. It doesn’t matter who it’s for. I just want to play. If it is a chance where I can get to a team that they’re a contender or we have a chance to win the Super Bowl, that’s awesome, too. Everybody thinks they’re going win the Super Bowl right now. I’m just trying to get somewhere to play.”

Whether through an injury or dissatisfaction with the receivers on hand, Jones is likely to land on radars before the start of the regular season. It’s late in the offseason program, though, so Jones may be waiting to start work with a new club until training camp.

We could, didn't we just get back a couple mill off the cap that Browner couldn't run off with?

I've always been impressed with JJ's play. He's a really good teammate too from all indications.

Money for the regular season roster (when 52 and 53 start counting and money for PS players) with just a tad left for emergencies.

So we'd have to make a move to shed cap or he has to play for the minimum (which I think is the reason he isn't signed yet; likely asking for $2 m).

I'd definitely get behind this. James Jones still has some gas left in the tank and he'd be a much needed veteran to lead this young roster.

They do pump the AC pretty good in the Dome. Short-sleeve hoodie temp.

No problem with him competing for a roster spot at all.

No problem with WR Larry Burton, Purdue competing for a spot either.

But, if you sign James Jones in the first place, he makes the team.

He showed he can still play so i don't see why not.

Obviously he has been asking for too much $$$ or he'd already be signed somewhere.

Jones caught 50.5% of his 99 targets last season. Mike Evans was the only guy w more targets with a worse %

Jones is old, he could get Brees killed while he waits for him to get open like Colston (same age) did. Rodgers threw Jones open a lot, put the ball right on him

Why not Brian Hartline? 3 years younger, big WR, and has produced with bad QBs, to boot.

He would be a perfect fit for the Saints. Wouldn't hurt to sign him if it works out.

We are fricking loaded at WR. There is absolutely no reason to bring him in here. The whole adage of needing some father time wideout to mentor 2 and 3 year guys is bullshite. I swear we need Antonio Brown, OBJ, Dez, and AJ Green to make you fools satisfied at the WR position.

???

Brandin Cooks
Willie Snead
Michael Thomas

Coleman
Prater
Brown
Harris

Even if you count Fleener, that's far from being loaded.

You should be ashamed for saying this. None of this is even remotely true.

Colston had a pretty good year last year. He just didn't get the targets that he used to because of Cooks, Snead, and Watson.

More than anything Watson kind of took his "spot".

If we signed jones wouldn't it make releasing Colston kind of a head scratcher?

He's not that great of a WR anymore but I'd take him cheap in a heartbeat.
