$3.6 mil is really cheap for a consistent starting corner.

I've never said its a bad contract, i'm not sure its a luxury we can afford to ride into 2013 with assuming we sign Nnamdi. That's all. Sometimes you can't get a cake and the eat it too.

So it's going to cost 4 million to cut him? I'd say just keep him then.

June 1st cut may change that... maybe he resturctures a bit. I've had him as well as PT as possible restructure guys.

We need a 3rd guy as nickel, and Greer fits the bill perfectly as a true starting nickelback and a rotational/situational guy at the position.

This is what I was thinking. I'm hoping they keep Greer even if they do sign Asomugha. I'm no expert, but I think Greer would be a great nickelback with Lewis and Asomugha holding down the islands. Then we have Robinson and White for rotation/dime and hopefully groom for the future.

Back to Jabari, we have enough of Will Smith and Roman Harpers dead money holding our cap hostage. Please no more.

All three are starter potential and look at atlanta last year. top 3 DB's were all starting caliber, not a really bad issue to have especially since their cost is relatively cheap. In today's age, you're going to need to cover 3 receivers more often than not and to have all three of them as our top dbs, I'd imagine we'd get a lot more coverage sacks.

To figure out savings you take Cap Hit(what he currently costs) and subtract Dead Money(what he would still cost).

$5.425 - $3.975 = $1.45 mil

So we'd save $1.45 mil toward the cap cutting him. I only see him getting cut if they really need that extra bit.

More likely would be Jenkins who'd save us $2.5 and is not as good of a player(unless they move him back to corner after cutting Greer; he'd be a younger, cheaper option though still not as good imo).

Or a running back(Ingram is not cuttable; he'd cost us money to cut). Thomas saves $2.5. Sproles saves $2.25. Rescinding Ivory's offer saves about $2.

As a June 1st cut, come June 1st he'd save us another $2.65 mil(his signing bonus next year and the year after). At that point he is definitely cuttable.

There is no way we can sign Nnamdi unless someone like Greer restructures or someone is designated a June 1 cut or we trade. On 53 man roster when special teams will play a major role in who stays and who goes.

They're not taking the remaining guarantees into account under dead money like they are for Harper so I don't know how it's broken down.

But going off of what they show, that's what the numbers are. Know where to find a more in depth break down? That could help us sort it out better. Seems he has $5.3 mil left in guarantees but nothing jumps out.

I think you need to prepare yourself. It's pretty clear that they are trying to upgrade the position.

nnamdi is older than jabari, he's regressed the last two years, even when philly went to man last year he didn't perform like his oakland days. To get rid of your best db and taking a coin flip on another seemingly downhill db, it is a pretty scary coin flip

Sportrac and Rotoworld appear at adds on this one. Sportrac only has him at $4m in dead money. Per Rotoworld, Greer had $11.3m guaranteed with his extension. So far, he's only seen $2.6m of the signing bonus (including this season) and the first year's guaranteed base salary ($2.4m). That would leave him with over $5m remaining in guarantees, greater than his $3.6m base + $400k roster bonus.

I think it's a "mute" point, though, as there no guarantee that Asomugha is even a better player than Greer right now. He's still a solid contributor despite his age.

If the $5.3 mil remaining in guarantees is correct, his dead money number should be around $9 mil. That means it would cost us about $3.5 to cut him, meaning his cap number would actually rise by that amount.

If that is the case, he is uncuttable.
