I was definitely not making the comparison.

My feeling on rankins is he's a solid player, but not a very high ceiling.

Sheldon Rankins is too small now?

Funny because I know this DT in St. Louis by the name of Aaron Donald who is 6'0 and not even 290 lbs.

Look, this is a safe space for those who want to melt, to melt.

You contributing facts into this discussion is triggering to me.

This is one of the dumbest threads I've seen in a long time.

Thanks, I guess. It was entertaining at the very least.

Brees is undersized.

Let's get rid of him.

Its funny because if Rankins had 6 more pounds on him and like 1/4th of an inch he wouldn't be undersized.

He's fine.

yes really. how many sed ellis's come out of drafts? how many aaron donald's come out of drafts? ellis wasn't terrible, he wasn't a bust. He's more comparable to ellis' size and rankins athletic ability is kind of inbetween the two. definitely doesn't have same explosvieness and quickness donald has.

I think you could have traded back got him, or if not him, someone similar. The saints, instead of adjusting based on who fell, decided to just take the player they decided on beforehand. We'll see how that works out.

This has been addressed. We took the entire 10 minutes because we were trying to trade back. It takes 2

Closer to Jurrell Casey as Rankins stated in his interview though Rankins is more athletic. Jurell Casey is a really good if overlooked player.

While you are spot on right here, the big difference is Rankins mindset. Now I admit I wasn't pouring thought scouting reports in 2008 like I do now. So, I don't remember if there were any knocks on Ellis's work ethic coming out of college, but you could tell from day one he took plays off and didn't have the drive to match his talent.

I have heard nothing that even indicates Rankins has any part of that mindset. So, I am hoping we got a player that will constantly push to get better instead of one who is ultra talented and going through the motions. Regardless history says the draft is a crapshoot, but I choose to be optimistic here because the last two 1st picks (not mearly 1st round because I loved the Anthony pick last year) I wasn't.

I think people mistake perceived depth at a position for just being able to get a good DT anywhere. Yeah, this draft has a lot of good DT's on paper, that doesn't mean they will all work out or have equal production. You take the one you like the best that matches what you need on your team.

Well yeah, no one has Donald's explosiveness and quickness. He's the best in the league at that position

People are attempting to make Ellis comparisons based on their combine numbers

We can just say his numbers are comparable to geno Atkins so he will be geno Atkins!!!!!
