I agree. The call was good. But dropping shanle into coverage and expecting Harper to make a play on a TE is not putting your players in a position to succeed.

This would be my only complaint, but it's not exactly like he has a bunch of Pro Bowlers to work with. With that coverage he basically did everything possibly scheme-wise to stop Davis. He jammed him at the line and then bracketed him in the second level with the corner and Harper. He essentially put him in a three-way bracket. Problem is the guys bracketing him suck.

Unfortunately for Williams, he isn't equipped with the knowledge of knowing what routes the other team will run. He has to pick a defense before that lol.

It's down and distance basics to me. With the Niners needing 50 yards, you'd think you would keep everything in front and let them waste clock.

With them on their 10 or 15 yard line on that TD play, you'd expect a quick route to the only person who made plays for them all day. Jam them at the line because they don't have much room to work with inside the red zone as it is.

Be it execution, coaching or perhaps a bit of both...our 2 minute defense has been putrid all season. It very nearly cost us the Atlanta and Tennessee games and it finally caught up to us last night.

Whether or not GW stays, it's imperative that the Saints concentrate on getting players that can put more pressure up front. If you can't pressure the QB without blitzing, you're just asking for trouble.

It doesn't matter who you play...if you give up 77 points in 2 games, chances are very good that you lose both...especially if they're playoff games on the road.

Mark my words, if we have Sharper in there, he jumps that route easily and the game is over.
Why would Sharper have been playing Roman Harper's SS spot?

Harper can't jump that route he had deep middle it was shanle who was supposed to cover shallow middle. If harper tried to guess and jump that route the back of the ez is wide open

Because it's Quarters and we would have put our best safety on Davis' side.

No such thing as deep middle when the team is on the damn 15 yard line. Shanle definitely should have sank more, but that was Harper's responsibility.

offdacorner,

Care to give a reasonable explanation why quarters isn't the best defense for twins, especially when a curl-post combo is ran?
