I'll say this much about Williams

That final playcall was absolutely perfect and Harper f'ed it up. San Fran lined up in twins left with one receiver running a snort curl and Davis running the post.

When Harper sees that outside receiver squat on the curl he immediately knows Davis' combo is either a post or a corner. He can be aggressive to the inside knowing the corner has corner responsibilities.

Mark my words, if we have Sharper in there, he jumps that route easily and the game is over.

This isn't an affirmation of Williams' playcalling late, but his final playcall should have won us the game.

More importantly, what about the play before that? Not counting the spike...

Reading comprehension.

This isn't me claiming Williams is some genius and his continued insistence on matching up Jenkins one-on-one with Davis was asinine at best, but his final playcall should have been the game winner... for the Saints that i.s

There was an chance at an interception. But asking Harper to make that play is like hoping to win the lottery.

Shanle in front. Harper in the rear. Neither one in position to make a play. Davis wide open for a TD.

That playcall fricking sucked.

I am done with Alabama players coming to the Saints. It's like having to root for the guy that robbed your house when he's leaving with your cash and guns.

Learn football. Quarters against twins is as perfect as it gets. Poor execution by Shanle and Harper, not the playcall.

Hoping one of our safeties gets an interception when they hadn't in 16+ games? Another example of not learning and adjusting

Only reason it was a difficult play is because he read it so horribly and got such an awful jump.

Exactly. He shoulda ran THAT play on the one where Vernon got 50 yards on us, and then ran the man to man bump coverage on THIS one.

Shanle over Davis in a zone? A quick slant will tear that shite apart, they threw the ball before Harper was even able to get there.

I liked the playcall but Shanle cannot let Davis get free release , you have to reroute him on that.

Sounds like execution, and not the playcall, no?

Unfortunately for Williams, he isn't equipped with the knowledge of knowing what routes the other team will run. He has to pick a defense before that lol.

Playcalling 101 with 40 secs left and the qb not managing the clock well you don't go to a all out man blitz.

Not when Harper is told to be 10 yards deep in the end zone while Shanle is 5 yards in front of the line of scrimmage

All the analyst are blaming it on terrible playcalling by Williams'. Its time to realize this

All out man blitz wouldn't give you a safety over the top, no?

We rushed 6 on that play, probably would have even been 5 if the running back went on a route. So, we sent one extra guy.

The two best cover guys on our defense! What could possibly go wrong?

I agree. The call was good. But dropping shanle into coverage and expecting Harper to make a play on a TE is not putting your players in a position to succeed.
