I'm huge LSU fan and attend the school but God I hope we don't waste a draft pick on this guy. He couldn't stay out of trouble being a broke college student. What do you think will happen when he has money and is in his hometown?

Worth the risk of mid round draft pick. Low money value for a player who could be exceptional

It may be better for him to get out of nola, but that shouldn't be the saints concern. He's exactly what the saints need on defense especially giving our areas of need on defense. He can start at corner, play nickel, play safety, special teams... Gives us depth at several positions

Absolutely worth a fourth or fifth round pick that has a small chance of making any impact anyways

He's under-sized and isn't a very good cover corner. LSU fans are going to say "but he makes plays"... true - against weaker opponents but you don't play many North Texas's in the NFL. Not to mention, who are you going to take off the field to put that guy on instead of?

Wow!!! What a dumb comment! Go watch a highlight video because all his BIG plays came in big SEC games. Especially Georgia SEC championship and the Arkansas game the game before.

You can't take him before the 5th. The only place he has a chance of making an impact is returning kicks and punts. Too small. Do not want.

Also stupid comment

Man you Gumps are dumb!!!

Idk I've defended this guy so much during his time at LSU only for him to screw up time after time. So I don't believe he can go a whole season without having to serve a 4 game suspension.

He's the pot smoking version of Javier Arenas.

I don't understand fellow LSU fans defending this guy... he clearly couldn't care less about LSU if he did he would have put down the weed

its not about defending him, its about if you think he's matured enough to move on. If yes, its well worth a 5th round risk.

He let us down yes. But think about all the great things he did for 2 years. He was a Tiger great and a special player. Why wouldn't I defend him?

And I agree a lot of the NFL players smoke. It is pot, it is not a big deal!!!

Maybe other people just forgive easier than I do or I hold Heisman finalists to a higher standard, maybe both

Yes I personally dislike him. There are so many people who would kill for a full ride through LSU and all he has to do is not do drugs and that is too hard

if you take your personal opinions out of it, how can you honestly say hes not a good late round gamble? yes we have found some gems, but a lot of those picks are just garbage and dont even make the team (remember the wake forest kids?).

hes a play maker in the secondary, where we desperately need some new blood. off field issues aside, hes definitely worth a low risk gamble.

eta: i take a few months off and when i come back, chad makes perfect sense. wtf happened here!?

You hold kids to pretty high standards (no pun intended).
And that's what he is.

The dude has ridiculous talent and we need all the help we can get in the secondary.

Yeah I do. I'm a kid too if Mathieu is considered one. My life consists of school, work, with some fun thrown in. And I've never touched drugs so it's not impossible

The dude messed up, but that doesn't make him persona non grata.
