I'd like to rebuff the "Lattimore didn't play against top receivers in college" argument

I mean you can pick who you play, but when he did face top opposition, he shut them down.
Let's take Tampa Bucs WR Chris Godwin, example. The Bucs took Godwin in the third round of this year's draft. He was widely regarded as one of the top WRs in the draft out of Penn State. Let's take a look at the matchup between Lattimore and Godwin from the tOSU and PSU game.
Godwin had 2 catches for 39 yards and 1 TD. The 20 TD reception was defended by Gareon Conley, not Lattimore. Lattimore held Godwin to 1 catch for 19 yards. And again, Godwin was selected very high in this year's draft.
Take a look at this link if you want to read more about that matchup and others that feature our new lockdown corner: Lattimore Island
Mike Evans, Kelvin Benjamin, Julio Jones...there's a new sheriff in town.

haven't heard anyone question his skill or talent, only negative with him is the concerns about staying healthy, only time will tell on that.

Was it not buffed out right the first time?

I'm excited too! But I'll hold off on calling out Julio Jones bc we got a rookie CB....

I was being a little facetious with the last part.
But only a little

I remember watching "Lattimore" in the sixties. Stopped crime riding his horse Hammy and saving the day

Got shut down by freshman corner Rashard Robinson in 2013. Lattimore will have a field day with him if they match up.

What sort of argument is that anyway? If a guy can play, he can play.
Josh Norman didn't play against top receivers in college.
It's not like Lattimore scheduled weak opponents on purpose.

Wow, hadn't heard that one. Damn, we get a potential true shutdown corner discounted at #11 and all peeps can do is snipe it seems. This isn't a #32 that we hope can start across from Breaux. This is a sheriff coming into town. A kid with some dings but as far as ballin this elite class. I can recite many 1st Rd CB complete failures but I don't see it with Lattimore skill wise. Potential NFL DROY if he can stay on the field.

Hope he can be good, I think he can be great but we're the saints I'm not gonna get my hopes to high. I'll be satisfied if he can be at least decent.

Robinson is a different style of corner though. He got physical with him and used his hands and length.
Ohio St. corners never use their hands in press man, irritated me when I was watching film on those guys.

Never? Or do you mean not often? Because I saw him use his hands several times, but do agree that he wasn't usually aggressive with them.
Then again he had the speed and athleticism to not need to jam often and just stick with the receiver instead. He knew it wasn't his strength so why risk losing the hand fight when you can just win without it?

I'm excited about him but doubt he could pull of DROY. The most realistic way for that to happen is if he has a bunch of INTs. If he's really balling out from day 1 then teams would stay away from him. Not saying it couldn't happen but there is some luck for a CB getting a ton of INTs. Even Jason David had 8 in his two seasons here.
It seems like a LB or DL has a better chance to put up tackle and/or sack numbers to win that kind of award.

But Kiper said he struggled with press coverage. Even said a play on his highlight would actually be a pass interference in the nfl. Im just holding off considering the Saints history with DRAFTING cb's. They've done better imo when getting them in FA.

I linked the article for the highlights, I didn't rely on any of his arguments or material
