Travis Frederick
It solidified their line which is now the best in the league.

Hopefully Ramczyk does the same for Saints line.

I think the Marcus Williams pick is more of a Travis Frederick pick. Everyone thought that Frederick was a reach at that pick, but Dallas took the guy that they felt would step in right away & give them what they needed. Most of this board was pissed at the Marcus Williams pick at first, b/c of the same reason.

He wasn't BPA. He was just the exact player that we needed to play center field for us, & we stuck to our board. Some teams wouldn't have even considered taking him in the 2nd.

I do agree that Ramczyk solidifies the O-Line. That pick was 100% value though. He was easily the best player on the board at the time. It was either pick Ramczyk or reach for a DE.

The only reason people were upset about that pick is because offensive linemen aren't "sexy" picks.

Frederick started immediately. Are we expecting Ramczyk to? Not trying to stir anything up, but just trying to get the feel from the board.

Marcus Williams will be a Malcolm Jenkins type for us I believe. Maybe not the tackler Jenkins is, but will excel in deep field coverage. Something that we desperately need.

And nb4 fthose idiots that are gonna say Jenkins wasn't good here

I think I remember hearing he was a 2-3 round pick, but some teams had him as the 2nd best safety in the draft and could go in the high 20's.

Agree with the rest of your post.

I don't see how some people or analysts think OL wasn't a need. We have little to no depth and strief is all but done. I thought it was a great pick. This entire draft made me happy. I'm hoping my expectations from it will be proven because it has the feel of one of the best drafts we've had in a long time.

Almost everything that I read up to the draft had him going anywhere from early 2nd to early 3rd.

Never read anything about him going in the 1st round, but I wouldn't doubt it. Imo, Marcus Williams & Budda Baker were the 2nd tier Safeties behind Adams & Hooker. I was a very big advocate of drafting Williams. His talents just seemed to be exactly what we needed.

Budda Baker went early 2nd round(36), then Marcus Maye came off the board(39). At that point the FO probably felt like they had to take Williams at 42, b/c a run on Safeties was happening. Justin Evans went 50, Obi went 56, & Josh Jones went 61. The FO did a good job of realizing the situation that they were in.

I for one think Rancheck could be starting over Streif before the season is over. I would even say out of camp except for considering his surgery recovery process.

I'm stoked about the prospects of the Oline. Adding him and Warford (still only 25) I can see the line stepping back up from palin good to dominant. Jhari and Nicks was an alltime historic duo at guard. Peat-Warford may not be up to that but grading the crew on a whole this could be even better.

With Peterson and Kamaraadded I'm pondering if we will see the most rushing attempts ever by a Payton team.

He started good.

But he graded out as the worst safety in the league his year here.
That's really not debatable.

Baker is more of a Tyrann Matthieu

Williams can be a bigger, younger Earl Thomas for us. A true center fielder that just hunts everything. I expect him to not play as well early just because he's young but by mid season he's going to figure it out. He's smart as shite and just has the things you can't coach, instincts.

His only knocks are that he needs to bulk up and not get drawn in on QBs eyes as much and those things can come in time as he gets older and watches more film. We have to remember, he's only 20 years old. He's my favorite pick in the draft. I've wanted the Saints to have that Ed Reed, Sean Taylor esqe Safety for awhile. He may not be as good as those guys but he has the ceiling.

I think Ramcyk could start at right tackle this year as well. I know what the numbers say, but I was not as impressed with Strief's performance last year. If nothing else, he should start next year, barring injuries which seems to be there caveat for our entire draft.

He was one of the top 2 or 3 tackles in all of football last year according to PFF... Where you people come up with this shite I have no idea.

Sure it's possible he falls off but to just declare he's done is asinine.

The problem is you don't draft 1st rounders to be "depth".

He isnt depth. If we wanted depth on the Oline we would have drafted a 2nd tier OT that needed some time. This guy can start day 1 if asked.

You do draft them to fill future holes in your roster. It's called planning. He also very well could beat out Strief this year.

Worst case if he doesn't start this year he will next year, the horror! Not to mention we use a 3rd tackle as a blocker a crap ton.

That's ridiculous. One of the main things about being a first rounder is playing immediately. So no, you don't draft 1st round prospects to fill depth. That's what rounds 3-6 are for.

If you want to argue that he will start, thats a legit argument. I fully expect ramzyck to start day 1.

I thought the exact same thing. Sometimes getting these lineman builds everything. because getting crazy good athletes doesn't always transfer to championships.
