I feel way better about this draft than I did last night

1. Peat - this guy is plug and play. Whether it ends up being on the left or right, I feel great about him and Armstead manning the bookends for years to come.
1. Anthony - this honestly may be my favorite pick. We've need young, athletic, playmaking blood at MLB since 09. I think this guy will be a staple at the position right away.
2. Kihaka - can't have enough pass rushers. I didn't watch any Washington football last year so I won't pretend to know the guy, but, leading the NCAA in sacks isn't anything to scoff at. He'll likely replace Galette
3. Grayson - well. I can't say that I reached Jarvis Jones level melt on this guy but I was close. I didn't get the pick at all last night and we'll, I'm still bullish. If, and only if, Payton really thinks this guy can take over for Drew, then I won't question it. Still wish we would have used a 5th to move up from this spot to get one of the WRs...but, I guess we won't be able to tell with this spot for a few years.
Hey, the Pats took a guy like this and won the Super Bowl. So Hey, there's that.
3. Williams - I don't really get the hate for this pick at all. I wanted us to get another CB in this draft and this was great value. I don't think people realize Browner is already what, 30-31? Lewis will be great for a few more years but who else is there? You can't have enough good CBS in this day and age. I'm not trusting Breaux or Dixon as good depth yet.

dude better produce as a LB...we really needed two LB's who can play now. Our LB corps has sucked for years. If all that guy is gonna do is rush the passer he better get a shite ton of sacks.

Oh, there's people not big on this pick?

This does not mean you stop drafting a position of need.
With two aging cornerbacks and 9 draft picks I would hope they address this position, especially when there is value there.

Do you really think any team thinks that way? Its moronic.

My biggest concern was drafting Grayson but I'm warming up to it. I like our draft so far
Posted on 5/2/15 at 8:45 am to rondo
Kikaha had 32 sacks over the last 2 years. 19 last year! The TPOS (Gregory) that showed up 3 hours late to our predraft meeting and didnt even show up to meerings with some teams that everyone wanted us to draft only had 17 over the last 2 years. So there's that.

What do you think the Saints should do? Completely stop drafting any DBs?

The Lions took how many WRs in the 1st before they landed Calvin? Well, that worked out eventually.

If the top 3 defensive guys in this draft produce any next season, that'll mean the D hit better. Isn't that a goal? We'll all look back and say this was a good draft, if so. Regardless of them taking a QB (which had to eventually be done), this could go down as a franchise changing draft. Get better and younger but giving up talent where you do best, and hopefully improve the team as a whole.

I like the idea of a safe draft, honestly.
We don't need to be going after super projects like we used to.

Yeah, really can't afford many misses, and do need to build for the future too. Last year was a now or never type offseason and how did that turn out.
(Except for our CB pick)

I know everyone may still be freaking out that we took a tackle instead of a guard but believe me (and Payton) when it's said the best players will be on the field(now whether they're playing injured is another story and something I take issue with).
Payton was misquoted as saying no one is moving to guard. He said he doesn't see that initially and I agree. You have to wait until Peat proves himself better than our starters be for you consider moving one. And if he's as good as they think then someone will get moved.
On Anthony while he wasn't rated the best cover LB he would likely be the second best, is larger than the guy that is the best, and is more well rounded (probably the most well rounded of that top group). He was a leader of that defense on the field and highly thought of off of it. If he lives up to his billing he will be a stud in the middle for years.
Kikaha is the opposite of a combine warrior. This guy had insane college production and produced even against top teams (something a lot of these other "great" pass rushers didn't do). He was said to be starting off at the Sam where Haralson plays.
He isn't here to replace Galette. He is here to compliment him. Galette's contract dictates that he will be he at least the next two (most likely three) years. People need to get that out of their heads. It was Lacanfora stirring up shite.
On Grayson I get the pick. Payton said it had to be the right guy at the right time (round). If Payton is right about him then we have Brees' eventual replacement whether that is in 2017 or 2020(or later?). In order to groom a replacement you have to pick one. People overlook that fact. We aren't picking Luck first overall here. And I think he has a shot of being better than Winston (not sure on Mariotta).
Williams is going to be an excellent nickel. We lost White who was a great tackler, though poor in coverage and not aggressive enough. This guy is just as good if not better at tackling and is real aggressive. Sure he may never be a starter on the outside but he isn't a first round pick and will be a great nickel for years at the least.

for as much smoke that was blown by the staff id say this has been MEH. Same old same old

You guys do know that P.J. Williams was mocked in the 1st-early 2nd of most mocks right? And was graded with 2nd round grade. He was a great value at 78.

I'm not knocking any of the picks (except the QB) which I think they could have gotten with a lower pick. Obviously they feel differently and they know more than I.
Happy with the draft. I prefer safe over risky, when you have obvious needs. It just makes sense. If your roster is stacked, then take risk on high reward guys, otherwise, you need contributers and can't afford misses.

Wtf are you smoking? It's a safe draft when we have many holes to fill and many picks to fill them with. GTFO.

I like the draft so far. What I like more though is people flipping out because we didn't take the players they like.
The one pick I didn't care for at the time was Peat, but I honestly think he's going to be a great OT, so I'm good with it now. And shite, not like we can't use a 3rd OT. I think I speak for everyone when I say I hope to never see Bryce Harris on the field again.
The Grayson pick, how did this catch anyone off guard? There's been talk since the season that we wanted a QB early. I'm sure people would have preferred Petty, but I always wanted Grayson more. People hae to have known that with us having extra picks that we were either going to trade up at some point, or take some luxury picks.
I don't understand the melt over PJ Williams either. Dude was a late 1st-2nd prospect that we got in the 3rd, at a position of need. We have two solid CBs (one is 31), and NO depth behind them.
I love the Anthony and Kihaka picks. I'm slightly concerned about Kihaka's knees, but he performed 2 years since at a high level. And if you're worried about his 40 time, who cares? Dude is a violent player, which is what our D needs. Do people want another Martez Wilson? I expect Kihaka to get a lot of snaps opposite of Galette this season, not to replace him.
ETA: For today, I think we use the two 5ths to move into the 4th.
